Well, the destruction with my buddies cars continues! I hope I don' t catch the breaking streak, lol. Today, we went over to Mike's shop. The LS powered Challenger made light work of the stock powerglide stuff. This stock 1.76 planetary got destroyed! Let's disassemble the powerglide and take a look.

A lot of transmissions will rock when revving them up in neutral, especially when they are cold.

Secret bearings find their way around each end of the shaft. Someone should be milling these cases out of billet or something that is not cast.
Thanks for the info. Nitro Union runs a C Ford trans. It can take some stress. I believe the turbos like the lanky gear spread, for spool room. I just like anything, worth tearing up. How it goes back together with alterations, is the only thing the wrench cares about.
I wondered if you got the Tulip valve figured out? Titanium valves could last forever. Probably worth every penny, atleast on the intake side. I'd see how many seats, and castings they'd wear out.
Keep thrashing, you have the ability, money can't buy.

Could you do a really in depth full assembly for the new case? I’m building from bare case as well. Would love to see every single step. If you do, I’ll grab some Turbojohn merch 😏

You are missing the rear case bushing. The engagement end of the shaft is flexing trying to stay perpendicular to the gear drum. If the output shaft is too big for the standard bushing you are going to have to do something custom... without the bushing you will keep getting failures there.

I have a Powerglide I am rebuilding and was wondering, Do I need to do the pump mods for a high horse power car no trans brake? It will be street driven tire shredder!!!
Thanks for your time, Bradley
