Teenagers are so unlucky. 85% of them get breakouts - which is almost everyone!

At a time when their self-confidence can be very wobbly as they try to fit in, additional stress and pressure from exams or trying to get into new schools can often take a toll on their skin.Things may be especially tense this year after the events of the last 18 months, with more trepidation and even anxiety at the prospect of going back to school or starting university.

In today's video, I share practical tips on how to look after teenage skin. This is real, tangible advice that has helped me achieve skin success with hundreds of teens in the clinic. I’ve transformed shy teens who feel too uncomfortable to even make eye contact into confident beings who walk into rooms feeling proud with their heads held high.

As always thank you so much for watching and for all your support!

To everyone who's passing through the teenage phase, when I became a teen for the first time, I had severe acne too.I got depressed and thought they'll stay in my face forever, tried many remedies. But trust me it goes away with time.We most people go through this phase in life.Don't worry. It's gonna be alright !

Acne sucks especially when your one of the only ones in your grade that has it

Pillow cases. Sometimes teenagers get lazy and don't change the sheets and especially pillow cases often enough. A dirty pillow case can be a source of bacteria.

I stared getting acne once we entered the whole quarantine mode. I though it would go always cause in all my 15 years of me being in this world I had never dealt with acne. Once it got worse I could handle the fact that I had those bumps and pimples on my skin. The funny thing is that all of these bumps were on my forehead. No where else just there, and it was the most visible. I stared using the Cerave Foaming Cleanser since that one is for oily skin and I have really bad oily skin. It worked to control it build but it didn’t go away. Then motee acne came in and I got frustrated and stared picking on them. Well yeah that was not a great idea because now 6 months later and I have acne marks and hyperpigmentations. Now I see pimples once and a while but now I am just trying to get rid of bumps that are on my forehead and the acne marks/hyperpigmentation that is there. Right now my skin care consists of the: Cerave Foaming cleanser, the Cerave moisten with sunscreen. Serums that I use are : the Inkey list retinol and the ordinate 10% niacinamide w/ 1%zinc

i recently just turned 13, and i have a set diet, i have quit all soda, all junk food, i drink 4 liter water everyday! i barely use any makeup, but it doesn’t help. and it ruins my self confidence so much, they are like small bumps they aren’t that bad, but it just annoys me so much.

My 13 year old has just started to use the cerave foaming cleanser for his breakouts which is persistent but not severe luckily. I mentioned he may need a moisturiser and he looked at me like I had 2 heads 😆

I wish I knew this when I was a teen. I had horrible hormonal looking pimples (no hormonal issue ever found with my tests - good diet) new one every morning. Only now at the age of 30, I've sorted my skin out, thanks to you and all dermatologists who share such amazing knowledge on YouTube and basically thanks to Differin. I saw few derms when young, they just gave me a bpo/antibiotic cream, no retinoids, with no in depht explanation on how to use/how long for. Just tons of irritation, switching products fast, using useless/irritating things, no idea how to perform a proper skincare.

My acne really took a shift after teenage years, during that time was all in the t zone, back and shoulders, it was moderate, througt the years the acne migrated just to the cheeks and chin but more severe and now at 20 years old im going on isotretinoín after 5 years of epiduo. Wish me luck...😅

I wish that Proactiv, Acnease and Accutane had been around that I could take from ages 10 to 16; basically from 5th grade until 10th! Most of my classmates back then had clear skin and I didn't, I would have been confident if I had looked flawless! At least adolescence is easier when you look good! (It will STILL be hard for most of us)! I got a lot of teasing and bullying!

I have a few pimple (breakouts) and the mark that acne leaves, small pimple or comedones? I also have oily skin. How can I have clearer skin? I mean my skin is healing already but there's still something left

I've been trying to get rid of my acne for like 7 months now. It only gets worse. I use 0.05% tret., 2.5% benzoyl peroxide, 20% azelaic acid, salicylic acid face wash and cerave lotion. I'm feeling hopeless😭

Dr Sam, is Altreno lotion tretenoin effective for anti-aging like generic tretenoin? I can’t use generic tretenoin but tolerate Altreno. I want to know if I am still getting the anti-aging benefits with Altreno.
