My Russian blue is attached to me like no other cat has ever been. She's really helped me with the recent loss of my dog. He use to sleep with me every night and its been hard without him. My Russian blue cat has started sleeping next to me lately though and its really helped me.

"They are not lap cats" only makes the moments when they do come to you even more precious.

I had my cat for 22 years and he just passed five days ago. I am devastated! He was my best friend he followed me. He was always loving and cuddling me.

The Russian Blue my family had got introduced at a pretty old age to me, it was my stepfather's cat I had to be around 8 years old, but he was a really sweet boy there are pictures of me just laying my head on him while he purred. TBH, even though he died many years ago, I think more highly of that cat than my own stepfather.

Got my blue from a cat shelter, wrapped herself round my neck and didn't let go, they know when the right person comes along, rest in peace smokey old girl.

I have a Russian blue called Ollie and he is the most neediest cat I have ever owned! He demands my attention all the time and demands to be cuddled 😍
He’s also extremely playful, he loves to stalk and pounce at me (he doesn’t have his claws out)
He also hates me leaving the house. I work from home so I’m with him most days, but when I’m back he greets me and again, demands to be picked up and have cuddles.
So what I’m trying to say is, all cats have their own personalities, take this video with a pinch of salt!
I absolutely adore my Russian blue, he has the best little character x

My cat growing up was a russian blue. She was a family cat, but everyone knew she was my cat. She followed me everywhere, she slept on my bed every night and would always come when I called her. She was absolutely a lap cat. I miss her still sometimes. She loved attention and loved hunting outside, couldn't have asked for a better cat to grow up with.

My Russian blue baby loves to be held. He doesn’t mind or complain and you can toss him or carry around like a baby even if you’re a total stranger. He’s a sweetie ❤️

I had a Russian Blue and wasn't aware, a breeder of Russian Blues at the vet inquired about mine and told me that they were very sure she was RB. But she was already special to me.
I miss her a whole lot. She was my shadow, but never needed to be on me 24/7. she greeted me when i came home from school and always sat near me and slept on my bed.

0:36 my Russian blue named Barry is the neediest cat I have ever met. He is constantly needing pets. I love this about him but he will literally meow at my door and ram it when he can’t get in.

They most certainly are lap cats! We've had two wonderful, beautiful, loving Russian Blues. They absolutely don't hate being picked up & very often asked to be picked up! Our male was never anxious of strangers, but rather very protective, staying by us & watching them like a hawk! Any cat can resort to unwanted behavior, as can any dog. My husband made our cats a scratching post putting carpet on backwards, so the rough underneath was facing out. The LOVED IT & never scratched our furniture EVER! Criminey, give them something good to use! Our cats loved our dog & each eventually each other, tho we saved them at different times. Oh, glory! We had 2 children, small when we got them. I can't apologize for truth; our two Russian Blues proved wrong most of what you said. Oh, on our laps several times a day! If we were on our laptops or computer, would come & lay on our keyboards & try to knock or take our pens out of our hands, if we were writing. They loved us dearly & our dog, too.

Every Russian Blue I've had was an extreme athletes. My current one is almost pure muscle according to the vet. After talking to other owners, we agree that they are also little insect murder machines. My house is blessedly bug free and she LOVES preying on large cockroaches that sneak into the house. She also plays at my windows with the squirrel that lives in the city tree behind my house, (it runs up to the window to look for her) the local humming birds (who will fly vertically up and down at the window to see if she's around) and the little geckos who crawl up on my porch. It's cute and entertaining. I can't sing the praises of my blue enough.

I have a Russian Blue named Shadow. He does follow me around everywhere, lays on my lap/chest whenever he gets the chance is so social with me. And such a sweetheart!

I have two purebred Russian Blues. One is sleeping on my lap right now as I watch this video and am told "they are not lap cats." The other's favorite pastime is being held and carried around—since he was a kitten, he has been demanding to be picked up and immediately starts purring whenever he's held. In other words: take videos like this about cat breeds with a grain of salt! Cats all have distinct personalities that depend at least as much on their socialization and genetics as on their breed (and yes, breed is genetics, but not every family line is identical). These are amazing cats and incredibly affectionate. They can even be extroverted!

Oscar, my Russian Blue, will be 18 next month. I’ve had him since he was 8 months old. This video is a very accurate description of the breed, especially the “food driven” part. They only get more picky with age!

This is crazy to me! My friend/roomies RB is the most insanely sociable, aggressively cuddly, sweet and needy little guy. He's so vocal and gets so excited when anyone comes home. He loves jumping into my lap and always demands to be pet! He does hate being picked up though 🥺

My RB is a lap cat, a scarf, a shadow, a comedian, a pig (I say that lovingly), my best friend and the greatest happy accident in my life! I had such an ordeal trying to adopt a cat and had no intention of getting a kitten but when the adoptions kept going awry I was intent on bringing home a cat that day and arrived one hour early before my shelter opened after the week-end with my new carrier in tote and the cat I had my heart on was gone... I was heartbroken. But around the corner in the other room was this tiny grey kitten and all I wanted at that time was someone to love, and who looked completely unlike the others who didn't work out and they let me pick her up from the kennel and bond with her in a recliner and that was it, she was the one! She let me love her. She locked eyes with me the whole time and that meant everything to me. And now she IS my everything. Forget what this video says, there is no bad. Only love. ❤️

There are no cons when it comes to Russian Blues! :)
And mine is pretty needy and affectionate and not naughty at all.

The Russian Blue I had was very, very calm, and got along well with the other cats in the house. (I had four others thanks to a daughter and my mother "awarding" me with a cat each without asking.) She was a lap-cat, too, though she always asked permission before getting on my lap. She was a rescue that was abandoned because she was pregnant. She really was a wonderful cat.
