Today is my RB Nipsey Hussle Cat first bday. I’ve had him since 3 months. He is everything a RB is described as. But I got him from a certified RB breeder. He is so sweet but he never stops talking lol

They like to eat early, and enjoy the outdoors a little to much. Extremely special

My Russian Blue is laying on me right now. They're great cats. We were going to foster her and the kittens she had in our shed but she's so sweet we just couldn't let her go. Also, she's scary smart.

Back when I was a teenager, my mother's best friend arrived with this rescue cat that she needed us to look after for a few days as she was going away. Of course as it turned out this was a ploy to get my mother used to the idea.

This nervous grey blue cat sat with her paws tucked in under her in front of the fridge for that first night, watching all around her but not moving much herself.

It wasn't long though before Sheba (named as such because we discovered that's all her ladyship would initially eat! 😂) made herself not just at home but the boss! She became my cat and just like this video was very independent and would prowl the neighbourhood for a few hours at night, but always met me by the front door when I arrived home from shift work for bed - and if I didn't wake up early enough for her the next morning she would start by lying across my neck to suffocate me 😂 but failing that would bite and hold my cheek until I got the message!

We later added dogs to the mix, initially one but then 3 litters of Rottweiler pups of which we kept 3 at one point. They were born in the house but Sheba was there before them and they knew their place! It was always very funny to watch these big (often completely misrepresented by the way) dogs having to wait their turn while Sheba helped herself to their water dish. I will always remember one day following her drink that she walked up to one of them and stuck her head up under the dog's chin for a rub. Poor dog thought it was Christmas with excitement and started licking her - until madam had enough and grabbed the poor dog either side of the nose and bit her 😂 Never saw a dog look so surprised and shocked!

For all that they loved her and she'd often find a spot on their shared couch to curl up on, or they would be in the garden furiously backing her up while she warned off a foolish interloper who had dared set foot on her wall!

She was with me for about 10 years (we never knew exactly how old she was) but we had to let her sleep in the end as she got very sick. Wasn't the same after that at home 😢

I still think occasionally about getting another Russian Blue (either a kitten or another cat), but someone to mind him/her would be a problem if I was away a few days as I've no family or close friends in the immediate area. I almost took the plunge anyway during covid when we were all told to stay home and limit contacts, but it wouldn't be fair so I didn't - but maybe someday there'll be a Sheba II in the family again 😊

I have a female Russian Blue which is 2 years old, and she is the most intelligent, engaging, very well mannered and has the most beautiful soft fur, she is silent and does tricks and fetches. In December, we got a bluepoint siamese cat which is 6 months, she is very talkative instead, copies my russian blue, but it is not problem solving, smart or brave like the other one. They do get along, but the Siamese cat adores Russian blue cat, can't say viceversa. Siamese cat thinks like pets, Russian blue thinks they are human beings

I had a very intelligent RB, with blue eyes, as one of my show cats. He was great. All my guys could be together on the living room floor, I'd call "MIschka", and he would stop whatever he was doing and look up at me. His favorite toy was a little panda doll which he would love to chase after when I threw it and run back happily to me with it in his mouth and eagerly wait for me to throw it again. Whenever I opened the closet with all of their carriers, esp for 'stud' trips, he was always the very first one there to see if he was going to be the lucky guy today. He'd perch on my right shoulder like a panther surveying his territory for prey, and he always slept on my right shoulder when I lay in bed. He lived to 18, passing away in the 90's, and not a day goes by that I don't think about him and all my other guys, who all had their little tricks as well. But he always stands out.

... Many years ago, two friends had a Russian Blue tom named (🤪) "Blue". The very first time I met him, he started talking to me, rubbing and bunting, and ended up glued to my right knee like a kneading Sphinx, purring like an outboard motor. He was always on my right knee like that when I was visiting, and my friends teased me that I had "catnapped" their beloved pet. Blue would also often go get his favourite toys, drop them in my lap, and wait for me to play with him-- which I was always quite happy to do. And when he turned those luminous green eyes on me ... such a deep, mysterious connection. Enchanting, absolutely.

Some years after that, I was helping friends install an outdoor dish antenna on a farm property that a wealthy man owned. This man was known as a cat lover, and he had an estimated 400 or so cats living in a barn on his property under his very kind care. My friends said that when we drove up and got out of our van, the cats would start to wander out to see who was visiting ... and that eventually this would look like a scene out of Alfred Hitchcock's *THE BIRDS* (but with cats). And sure enough, no sooner than we had exited the van, here came the first few cats ... followed by more ... and more ... *and more* ... until we were surrounded by a sea of curious cats, none of whom got closer than about a yard. But one of the cats walked right up to me, started talking to me while figure-8ing around my ankles. You guessed right-- another Russian Blue tom. He would stretch up on my right leg and knead, again that loudest of purrs, and he broke my heart forever because there was no way I could have adopted him at that time in my life. I can still feel his intense emotional "gravity" all these decades later (I'm 71).

*"Da!!!"* for Russian Blues🙂.

I have had 3 over the years. The 1st traveled with us cross country. Cat harnesses didn't exist yet so we got a small dog one and my mom copied it and made one that fit him.

Many years ago when I was in college, my roommate brought home a surprise one night. He was out with his friends when they heard a sound coming from under a hedge. It was an abandoned kitten! He took it with him to the bar, and got lots of attention from the ladies. The next day, he was trying to, awkwardly, figure out how to tell me that he's brought this kitten into our place; (the tiny paws darting out from under his bedroom door, while he was trying to feel out how I would feel about it, were giving it away). Fortunately, I'm a cat person. He never considered himself one, never having any pets when he was a kid. However he was smitten by the little guy. Although never formally confirming it, he appeared to me to be a Russian Blue; if not pure, then at least nearly pure Russian Blue. We named him Buckwheat. I convinced him to take it to the vet for a checkup, and set up a schedule for routine visits and shots. I also helped him pick up all the necessary accoutrements that a cat needs; litter box, food & water dishes, toys, scratching post, etc. Buckwheat was a very empathic cat; he new intuitively when I was having a bad day, and would make a lot of effort to cheer me up and/or comfort me. I later read that this is a common trait with Russian Blue cats. Buckwheat was a very good lap-cat. We all had many adventures and stories over the next few years; like when he was still a kitten, the time Buckwheat tried to jump into a mirror, or when he first discovered snow. He could also tell the difference between being laughed with or laughed at! We would get quite the evil look when that happened! My friend long had a calling for, and eventually moved out west. Buckwheat went with him for that big adventure.

Russian? Anything associated with those savages is undesirable.
