Hey but Arch is Arch, what I love is having the power of having a clean system and knowing every inch if it, doesn’t matter if it get easier to install (at least for me)

My favorite Linux videos are the ones that show me something that I didn't even know I could do. Maybe a terminal command I've not yet heard of, or some sort of customization I didn't know about.

I feel that arch wiki and arch installation videos are important, even for those who would prefer archinstall. They explain the need and functions of the components getting installed. Also, there might be situations where archinstall may not be able to provide the user with exactly what they desire, not that I can think of any.

I personally think that Arch becoming easier to install is a good thing, and I don't like gatekeepers who complain about "noobs" who use it (not directed at Linux Cast).

personally, I like tutorial videos for practical things for "the average PC user" on linux. Lately, I've found some Linux From Scratch install videos to be interesting. and by videos I mean stream VODs. The process is interesting, because not everyone seems to approach it quite the same way. Sadly there's not nearly enough of them floating around. I guess that's kind of understandable given that a lot of these sessions take entirely too long to complete. NCommander did an install for a set of charity streams split up into 3 nearly 10 hour long streams, and it was kind of a nice set streams...that I played back at 2x speed, because damn that's a lot of time to sit still. it would have been 2 hours shorter, but at the beginning he decided he didn't need to closely follow the book, and regretted it like 2 hours later. only took him like 30 minutes to get back to where he was though after starting over going by the book.

Side rant:YT needs to allow the custom slider to go faster than 2x. I feel like some people talk entirely too slowly, and still sound like most people do at 1x with a playback of 2x .

My first experience with Arch was using Manjaro. Manjaro quickly broke so I just swapped to vanilla Arch and just used archinstall. I have no regrets. I don't particularly care if people think it is the "wrong way" to install arch. But I will probably try installing arch in a VM the "proper way" just to satisfy my own curiosity at some point.

Yoooo Ermano shoutout. That dude is the king. He helped me install so many times.

Favourite type of linux video: these honestly. Just rambles about linux I can listen to whilst programming/working in the background :)

I'm mostly into linux news and linux software videos. Distro reviews got old pretty quick but it's still nice to know whats going to be in the new version of whatever is coming to the next version.

I followed the "Learn Linux TV" arch install process with success and then installed DT's overlay on the install.
Worked really well.

I never understood what's so hard installing Arch. My fisrt distro was Slackware, followed by Arch and both have excellent documentations.
One only needs to follow install instructions and that's it. Obviously in beginning I had to repeat installs a few times due to various f-ups, but that was due to my mistakes, not because of lack of information. I considered installs to be lenghty, but never hard.

While true as a meme, in seriousness arch is not about the installation but the flexibility and freedom to start from scratch and build up as you'd like, as much you'd like.

my favourite linux videos are the ones where you encounter a problem or a minor annoyance and you go and write a script to tackle that problem and forver reap the benefits xD

Would you care if I told you I use neovim, rust, arch and hyprland /s. Also, you may already know this but Ermano did make a video saying he was going to come back.

I never used archinstall, to me it defies the purpose of vanilla arch itself, if you want a nice little installer use endeavor or manjaro. Addressing the badge of honor issue, when a friend tells me "I use arch btw" I plonk them in front of bare metal, give them a usb and tell them to do it. So it's not really a problem.

I'm actually quite happy with Archinstall. Convenient for rapid deployment.

Oddly enough one of my favorite is Gentoo installs

I never cared when people originally said "I use Arch BTW", Arch was never a big deal to me, and I never ever thought any Arch user was elite, or special. Hardly a rite of passage.

My favourite type of videos are new app reviews. I have never seen "I use Arch btw" as bragging about doing something hard but more like a meme or stating that they have picked all OS components by themselves. I do not think Arch install was hard even before the script and I still see utility in doing it the old way in order to keep the OS minimal as the script installs bunch of stuff.

I hate this whole “I use arch btw“ so what. Without the Linux kernel you got nothing.
