Based on Donald L. Miller’s book of the same name, and scripted by John Orloff, Masters of the Air follows the men of the 100th Bomb Group (the “Bloody Hundredth”) as they conduct perilous bombing raids over Nazi Germany and grapple with the frigid conditions, lack of oxygen, and sheer terror of combat conducted at 25,000 feet in the air. Portraying the psychological and emotional price paid by these young men as they helped destroy the horror of Hitler’s Third Reich, is at the heart of “Masters of the Air.” Some were shot down and captured; some were wounded or killed. And some were lucky enough to make it home. Regardless of individual fate, a toll was exacted on them all.

The series features a stellar cast led by Academy Award nominee Austin Butler, Callum Turner, Anthony Boyle and Nate Mann, who are joined by Raff Law, Academy Award nominee Barry Keoghan, Josiah Cross, Branden Cook and Ncuti Gatwa.

Hailing from Apple Studios, Masters of the Air is executive produced by Steven Spielberg through Amblin Television, and Tom Hanks and Gary Goetzman for Playtone. Amblin Television’s Darryl Frank and Justin Falvey co-executive produce alongside Playtone’s Steven Shareshian. In addition to writing, Orloff co-executive produces. Graham Yost also serves as co-executive producer. Anna Boden & Ryan Fleck, Cary Joji Fukunaga, Dee Rees and Tim Van Patten serve as directors.

My great grandpa was shot down by fighters in his B17 on his 23rd mission over Germany. He was a top Turret gunner in the 447th. He became a POW at stalag 4 and he survived the war and then died when I was about 12. Watching these episodes I really felt like I was on a mission with him! Thank you for tell their stories!

As a member of the 8th AAF Historical society since 91 I knew many of these men and heard some wild stories all true. The trailers had me worried but after seeing this I am ecstatic over it. Well done and THANK YOU for honoring my friends.

So far this show is Absolutely beautifully done! Hanks and Spielberg really know how to make incredible war stories with respect.

This show is literally my comfort show rn. I read the book by Donald L. Miller and it's incredible - the action, research, the immersion. The show does a really accurate job in representing the book with most of the dialogue and details being historically accurate. It's incredible to see it come to life! They really put a lot into the show

An amazing series so far. Great book as well. Thank GOD for people like these who made this place for us, and who have the talent AND passion to make something so detailed and respectful to these heroes.

You know a production is confident when they want to show you behind the scenes

Oh cool, they built 2 full-scale B-17's. Just like what was done for Midway. I'm enjoying the series, so far, looking forward to the next episodes. It'll never top Band of Brothers, but it doesn't have to.

Overall, I am really enjoying the show. However, the CGI has been the major disappointment so far. I know we have very few flyable B-17's - but being in the film industry there is quite a bit we could have done to make the CGI look better. Even the use of props would have been a better option with the right FX crew. Regardless, I look forward to watching the rest of the series.

Man the volume with the whole rig of the cockpit, those fellas almost weren't acting when the flak was happening

People today complain about our flight being delayed or a long line at Starbucks but think about the horrors these men that fought in WW2 went through so that we could be free.

Fantastic series. Watch the intro every time, don’t watch the sneak peak of the next episode, but do watch the recap.

0:54 saying you just built a B-17 for a show is awesome, best flight simulator.

Seriously, she actually said nobody makes the WW2 style leather jackets and SHE had to figure it out. There are several companies who have nailed the look for years and that's where they bought those jackets!
