Inside America's last whites-only church

In rural Minnesota, a fringe Heathen group known as the Asatru Folk Assembly has purchased a local church – and membership is strictly whites-only.

They worship Nordic, pre-Christian gods and they call themselves a 'folk religion' that only accepts those with northern European ancestry. Their racially exclusive ideology is protected by the first amendment.

Amudalat Ajasa visits the church to understand how it is gaining influence across the country and to meet the anti-racist Heathens fighting back to reclaim their religion.

There’s nothing wrong with being proud of your heritage, but you shouldn’t have to hate another to do it.

Let them take an Ancestry test. It will be fun.

As a European it's weird to see Americans spinning their version on our heritage.

I bet like half the church is not primarily Northern European.

This is not the "last whites-only church" if anything this is the only one that is open about it.

There are some people in the comments saying “but we have Black churches!! What’s wrong !??” Black churches are called like that because most people who attend it are black, not because it’s exclusively black

"In 1000 years I want everyone to be blonde with blue eyes." Did he take that quote straight from Mein Kampf?

Calling this a "church" is extremely and deliberately dishonest.

As an actual Nordic person it was kinda hilarious how that lady was talking about preserving her "heritage" or "culture" or whatever when I highly doubt she's ever even been here or grew up in any such thing. Felt to me like they're doing some sort of a LARP more than anything

Native American would've liked to preserve their own culture and land, but manifest destiny disagrees.

misheard "race purity" as "race parody" and that actually seems spot on

“Do I look like a white supremacist to you.” With a smile on your face is a wild thing to say and it felt so subtly accusing.

"I don't know why people would be coming to a church for politics." Every church I have been to in the past has always been political and always brought up politics and how you should vote.

They act like northern Europe doesn’t exist. Like they’re trying to “preserve” a culture that isn’t endangered or native to the region at all.

When I was 17, my Dad wanted to go to a holiday event with the Asatru Folk Assembly. I never felt so uncomfortable being there because I am half Turkish.
