I figure the reason that hardly anyone is buying the regular 14 isn’t mainly due to people wanting the Pro features, but that the 14 is basically the SAME phone as the 13, even down to the chip. Why pay this year’s prices for last year’s model?

The Pros absolutely needed the faster transfer speeds, but they should at least give the standard models USB 3.0 speeds.

I think the reason why nobody is buying the iPhone 14 Model is the price point. Here in Germany the iPhone 11 for example was sold for 799 € (base model). The iPhone 14 is now sold for 999 € (also base model). That is why I spent some money to get a new battery ... 999 € is just too much for a non pro phone.

I don’t buy the base models, but USB 2.0 seems pretty shady to me.

I think the gap between the regular and the pro models in the 14 series is frustrating enough. But as a non-pro user I and most people I know use the port for nothing but charging. So those people like me, in this case we make up the majority here, won’t have an idea about the transfer speed of their phone. I would only care if they could speed up the AirDrop or other wireless ways. Port wouldn’t be a reason to upgrade to pro but camera system and chips are what I think to be a matter. Even the iPhone 8 and iPhone X which had drastic differences had the same exact A11 Bionic and now two iPhones from same generation are equipped with different chipsets. Although I love the whole idea, Dynamic Island being only on pro seems to be a way to provide a feeling of premium for the pro users, since it’s not rocket science going on there and once they made the software it can easily be on the regular model too. I’m sad about Apple’s take to get even bigger when they get bigger everyday. I think they’re trying to speed their work to release their car or spaceship lol

I’d say it’s probably fine as most ppl getting those phones don’t transfer much if at all. The only thing I would say is that the base iPhones need to come down in price anyway if they want to actually sell those. With a pro model just 200 more it’s easy to justify spending that money to get a lot more for your money thus so many people that would buy a more drawn down phone don’t because either way you slice it, it’s a big purchase

I think it’s okay tbh. Most people that buy the regular iPhone 15 are those that are not hardcore feature fanatic, and want the bare minimum cost wise and storage wise. Likely enough where they just want to have iMessage to be part of “blue bubble”

But for the pro’s, that makes much more sense since it’s the hardcore feature phone for prosumers. Those that are willing to pay more and with more storage

If iphone 15 pro comes with UFS 4.0 (or similar), maybe then they can hit 40Gb/s transfer speeds. (With thunderbolt 3 or 4)

You could say the regular 14 is plummeting but if you add back in the Plus it's about the same as the 13 and Mini combined. It just shows that people want bigger phones. Only have to pay $100 more and you have significantly better battery and more screen.

Let’s be honest. An average user hardly ever connects their phone to a computer, so I totally would prefer a slow usb-c than a fast Lightning connector. Nevertheless, If usb-c comes with thunderbolt I won’t complain.
