Kind of makes sense. If we make a hypothesis that the archons are actually parasites from the Void, then the "consumption" of them, would allow them to proliferate. Not unlike the real life "Horsehair Worm, " which drives its host to be eaten or to die so that the babies can be born back into the cycle of life inside a new or dead host.
