It all depends on what you consider "good service". We Europeans (well, probably still differs from country to country...) are more like "Give us our food and leave us alone. If we need something, we'll ask!".

Good service isn't about how often you disturb the customer. It's about asking at the right times, and act accordingly.

The food in Europe is so much better and each country and reigons have their own unique types of food, unlike US 'do you want cheese with that' 🍔🥤🍟

Big difference for me between Euros and Americans, is that in Europe we don't tip for everything. The idea of tipping someone for just making me a coffee that I'm getting take away is weird. I only tip 10% really for meals out with good service. I'll go 20% for phenomenal service and if it was a lot of work for the staff.

Everywhere is slightly different but you are basically correct sir. In continental Europe, being a waiter/server is a much more respected career. Staff don't have to kowtow to elicit a tip as in the US. To many, OTT American service culture is fake and we're kind of disappointed when we Europeans realize that 'have a nice day!' is just the same as saying byebye, means nothing more than a formality. Just different.

The service is better, you can enjoy your meal without someone bugging you every 2 minutes to check if you’re still alive 😂

The waiters and staff at restaurants in Italy seemed very nice.

So true. Restaurant owners in Greece were BEGGING for customers bc they were all empty. So I gave in to one fierce beggar and filled the entire restaurant with my daughter's wedding party entourage of more than 30 people. After several hours, I dared to ask for the check (I was suffering from a kidney infection and wanted to go back to the hotel) and the man about ripped my head off. The same man who begged me to come to his restaurant.

We don’t have free refills but that’s good but our service in Western Europe is excellent much better than USA. Eastern Europe is a bit more casual.

You do tip all over Europe. Americans have a very bad name in general for low / no tipping.
