What an American Should Know before Driving in Switzerland, Northern Italy, and the French Alps

While my work in leadership and human resource development were instrumental in getting an invitation to Zurich, it was my interests in historical geography that propelled Amy and I to hit the road to explore areas to the south of Zurich. On a trip to Zurich in 2014, we headed north into Germany and Austria, as well as to the east to do a grand tour of Lichtenstein; that wasn’t too hard because Lichtenstein is a microstate of only 62 square miles or 162 square kilometers. This time, we had our sights set on northern Italy and the French Alps. I came away with a deeper appreciation for our own Swiss and French ancestry.

So glad you and your wife enjoyed the trip. I have never wanted to travel overseas or even here in the USA. I'm a homebody and have lived my 66 years here in the southeast and am satisfied. Don't get me wrong, I love watching movies/videos or seeing pictures of the different places and cultures of the world. This planet is a beautiful place to live. Thanks for sharing and commenting on your adventure.

Have you ever been to Norway? My husband and I are planning to go when he retires. The waterfalls look spectacular.

Nice but short post, understandable because when you enjoy your trip, you forget to pop out the camera. The peaks of the mountains must have been a sight to behold. Tks

How are you doing dr Barry . Actually French is widely spoken in several Arabic countries such as Egypt, Syria, Lebanon, Morocco, Tunisia, because of colonial legacy . My homeland they teach French recently at some kindergartens, in some universities from long time too . French Alps located in Auverne - Rhône Apple . French Alps are famous for their Alpine skilling, mountaineering, mountain biking, paragliding, even white water rafting . French tends to have bigger resorts than Swiss Alps . Across Alpine countries ( from west to East ) French, Switzerland, Italy, Italy, Liechtenstein, Austria, Germany, Slovenia. Alps are famous for clear Alpine lakes, including stunning lakes such as lake Geneva, Lake Constance, lake como . Alps is Latin word it’s was derived from “ albus” white, referred originally to snowy peaks .

WOW! I forgot and am late but not totally gone. Was trim mowing and got worn out but here I am and the bed ain't far off. You looked plumb impressive with a tie on in the group[ shot and that'd be a trip to take with PLENTY of money and time, of which we have neither BUT we'll watch yours if you don't mind. The alps remind me of the smokies with the abrupt slope changes but the blue ridge is just too laid back to care. Yall remain calm and hold down Powell Valley and God Bless!

Thanks for the video Barry. Kathi and I are planning a trekking trip to the Chamonix/Mont Blanc region in 2024. I may have to reach out to you for advice. Have you been out on the Triumph? I'm preparing for a couple of weeks ride through the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and around Lake Superior and Lake Michigan. Take care.

Thank you for your videos. Haven't been watching much of late because it seems my new tablet isn't receiving them. I am a subscriber. Interesting you mentioned York. My Uncle pastor the church where he attended. Could you give me any information on the name Ray?

Interesting video. I have a chance to travel to Italy or Germany next year. It sounds like you did not care for Italy. Could you elaborate please? I have to save up to go and I don’t want to make a bad choice
