Surface Pro 3 - How to Boot from a USB Thumb Drive

Instructions on how to boot from a USB Thumb drive right from within windows. Requires Windows 8.1

Please ensure your bootable device is created with a GPT an UEFI support or the Surface Pro 3 will not boot it regardless of buttons held down or UEFI CMOS options selected. Rufus has options to select GPT with UEFI support for ISOs, though your ISO may not support EFI boot.

sorry that works not, you need a key (secure boot) for this one, i have the key and i can not use the Klai Linux system, when i disable the Secure boot, microsoft will habe a key, now i have the key! The system boot not form the usb. i have a error. it say it give my the Secure boot key, i give it (12 trying). Nothing works! it works not with the Surface Pro 3!

I just returned a surface pro 3 i7/512 because i could not get it to boot from USB.
what kind of usb/ethernet adapter are you using?
i just had a usb chip plugged in to usb port on the surface pro.
