I Tried to Make an Edwardian Lace Dress in a Week

preview_player
Показать описание
Over the course of one very sleep-deprived week, I tried to finish an entire Edwardian ensemble! I...did not succeed. But the dress is now finished, and I get to flounce around in the woods in a fluffy white dress! This was mostly shot in June and July of 2021, so it's a bit late being put together. XP

I love the dress. It's a frothy delight. Can we please have an introduction to your feline co-stars? They're adorable. You looked great in the dress btw.

Oh gosh I feel you dear I was in a fire too in 1994 and lost everything… I’m so so sorry to hear that you lost your costumes . What about all your fabrics you had? Velvets? Are you all ok I mean by that no injuries? Me I had to jump from a third floor… well my dear thank you for sharing and if you need to talk about or let out some frustrations I’m here for you. I can be that one person who really do understand all the stages you’re going through. I’ve lost all my hand crafts crochet, knitting bobbin lace making tools sewing tools and my most precious realization my wedding dress … took me one year to make every lace parts needed to hide every seems … I’m so happy your two babies are safe with you😊… thank you kindly again for coming back on YouTube.

We are often our own harshest critic. Having received compliments on appearance while feeling like a frumpy can of busted biscuits, I fully understand where you are coming from with the marshmallow comment. The ensemble looks very nice, ready for a spring tea! Wear it with pride in a job well done!

Fantaststic pin-tuck yoke. And great to see you back. Would love to see this dress with a large brimmed straw hat. Looks perfect for a summer picnic.

I lost my entire costume wardrobe in Harvey, so I can understand the frustration of feeling like you have to start over from scratch. One thing I learned while rebuilding things is that you don’t start over from scratch. You have all the experience you built up doing things the first time, so this time you can do it all better. I’ve tried not to be in a huge rush to rebuild, it took years to build it the first time trying not to kill yourself to rebuild it in weeks is key. But I have faith, we will both have our costume wardrobe back, eventually ☺️ mine is still not what it once was.

That was some fancy frolicking! Love the shirtwaist, the skirt is beautiful too! Congratulations on the first of many new and stunning costumes, you got this! 👌

Lovely dress!! You carry it with grace. Have you considered making one of those V shaped color belts for it? I want to add one to mine because it sort of divides the body into sections. I love watching the process. You are super talented!

It's so nice to see you again <3
I made a wearable mockup for a very similar looking dress (by pattern, not by appearance) and I also came to the conclusion I need to add a drawstring channel on the bottom of the blouse!

So glad your back. Great job on the dress. I'm wanting to make one of them, but I don't think I'll do white. I'm thinking a pastel like lilac because I love purples of all shades and hues. Still in the thinking stage about that. It was a little hard to hear you sometimes over the AC noise. And I have no suggestions on how to make it less of a distraction. Maybe having a lavalier mic could help?? I'm thinking that since a lav mic is closer to your body it will have the AC noise more in the background. I don't know. It's just a suggestion,

It's so great to watch you sewing again!! I loved the lace insertion, pintucks, kitty cam, and your perseverance. Boy can I relate to the fuzzy fatigue brain and resulting mistakes. Lol

Like you, I have a chronic condition and I’ve just discovered that if you push yourself to far you will get sick. No second chance, that’s just how it is so please take better care of yourself, no dress is as important as your health.
