It's also our attempt to visualize what Dallas Willard talks about in books like The Divine Conspiracy and The Great Omission.

Did you mean to forget the key components of suffering and sacrifice?  Pick up your "Cross" daily and follow me.  Add those paper circles please.  Discipleship is about dying daily to self and in the dying will emerge the new life, the new creation in Christ.

May the lord almighty Jesus Christ bless you n your church n your discipleship activity.. I am studying divinity.. and am completing a questionnaire on discipleship.. the Bible is vast .. let all denominations come under one understanding for we all worship one God..

Love this style of explanation through art! I do something similar on my own channel but it's pretty rare to see elsewhere so I'm glad to see God's gifts to us being utilized more!

At min
1:45, Discipleship is offered as the solution to more successful Christian living. Practically all churches teach this, but I believe that it misses the mark. Successful Christian living is rooted in sanctification. The real solution is two-fold. Humility! and Dependence! We are to humble ourselves daily and purposefully place ourselves in positions of trust and dependence on God. Basically, I am describing how Paul overcame the thorn in his flesh. We will fight with our flesh till the day we go home to be with the Lord, and no amount of discipleship can fix that. The solution is NOT better choices NOR more will-power. Ironically that drives you closer to self-rule and away from dependence on God.

Unfortunately, discipleship programs run the risk of a person following a person. Whereas, sanctification involves being spirit-led.

Discipleship happens in very small groups. Small enough that everyone will participate and that they will begin to be transparent within the group. We are all imperfect people where iron sharpens iron. Your typical Sunday School class typically have a few people only doing the talking and transparency does not occur. A true discipleship group becomes friends who share in their lives struggles and joys. It is my opinion that true discipleship is largely missing.

I love this video but I have one question
Why can't discipleship be a solo effort, I love working by myself and doing stuff with God by myself so I can really concentrate on him and all the amazing stuff he has done for me (you).

The problem is that actual disciples (believers/saints) are disciples of Jesus, not of men. “Discipleship” involves people following people. Discipleship then is always between the disciple and the Teacher. Modern discipleship is really the Shepherding Movement rebranded and rebooted. It’s a bit more subtle than the OG Shepherding movement, but it’s all still there.

Except discipleship is supposed to be a one or two man thing. Like accountability or coaching.

The gospel is Christ crucified, buried, raised, and glorified. You spoke of some of its benefits, not the gospel itself. Please consider changing or adding to this presentation. Please don't "preach the gospel" without the cross and resurrection, for it is no gospel at all. Please see 1 Co 15:1-11 for a clearer expression of what I am no doubt imperfectly expressing. But go on preaching, my friends. Don't stop, but please take into consideration what an imperfect brother says. Your message is kind, but is unfortunately incomplete.
