Did not work for me but this did: go to Edit>Preferences>General and click Enable PDF Thumbnail Previews (Adobe Acrobat Reader)

This did not work for my problem. I have PDF files that I want to have a photo Icon rather than just an Icon that says PDF, This solution was already done. Is there another way?
