I’m so glad Toyota got rid of the cartridge filters. They were a pain. It is still a little annoying that they have to do 0W-16 not 20…

Doing oil on new rav4, dealers play s games with the free oil changes, overfills oil, not sure of the weight of oil they put in or change filter. Someone mentioned dealer might change filter every other oil change.

In our country we measure everything in kilometers not miles and we change the engine oil at maximum 5000 kilometers so this 8000 and 10000 miles make me crazy like how does the engine oil not go bad after so much use and we do.this.with.the same grade of oil everyone else around the world uses

I have a Rav4, I normally drive it about 6k miles per year. Should I replace the oil every 12 months or 6 months ?

Question, since it's a new vehicle don't you loose the warranty if you don't take it to the dealership and do maintenance by yourself?

Why did he wait till 8000 miles though it's supposed to be done at 5000 miles.

Dont do 10, 000k miles in between oil changes. Thats way to long. 5000k milles 0w-16
Oil changes are cheaper than an engine.

You should have changed the oil at 1000 miles. There must have been massive metal shavings in your first batch of discard oil. Good luck.
