I have run in zero degrees this year, pull the buff up over your mouth when running, this will warm the air slightly making it easier on the lungs after a bit of running you will be breathing warm moist air. Don’t expect to run as fast in the lower temperatures it’s a lot harder work for the body.

Tip from new England where we get some pretty frigid winters: vests (not the tank top ones!) are great for running on cold weather! They keep your core warm but allow your arms to breathe, plus most have zippers you can quickly undo if needed. If it's REALLY cold, wear a fleece vest under a windbreaker to layer up.

Running in the rain is the best! It does all the sweating for me and keeps me from overheating, letting me push harder.

Our weather here in the greater Seattle area is quite similar to yours, and these are some fantastic tips. Truly enjoying sharing your channel with the US crowd.

I bought some Manzella Goretex Windstopper gloves in 🇨🇦 last year, keeps the wind and chill off and allows you to keep you gloves on with touch screen technology.

Most of my running gear is UA, have a UA cold gear compression top then add a cold gear top and a hoody on top works well. I have tried a waterproof jacket but it gets full of moisture and it’s like your running in a shower. The UA beanie is great thermal and it does have holes for your ear buds etc which I don’t use. If you get too hot and want to take your beanie off you have to remove the ear buds and put them back in.

I'm obese but just started 'running' more like jogging. I've really loved being in the rain.

I find legs don't need to be covered until you are below 30f. Also, with layers I try to make sure my first and last mile cover the same ground so if I over dressed I can drop my jacket and pick it up on my way back.

I see you channeled your inner Joey with the layering up section. 🤣 I love running in the rain and wind. Usually quieter areas and a challenge and embrace with nature. I run a route across a bay and have seen seagulls flying sideways being so heavily affected by the wind.

Rain and cold is where experience is so important.... need to try all kinds of combinations in training.
1) I always make sure my phone is suitable - eg IP 68...
2) if it is raining (other than tiny shower) I accept I'm going to get wet. On the whole running keeps me warm: however (belt + braces) having a dry layer is useful. I carry a packable/scrunchable lightweight jacket - can go in pocket of shorts or suitable waist pack... some have integral elastic belt.
3) Buff (or equivalent) it is like an extra layer.
4) in extremis I have a proper hat. Berghaus, waterproof, sideflaps for my ears, will not be dislodged by hurricane or typhoon.

Having something dry/warm to put on soon after finishing run is very important!

My half Marathon is on Sunday and it's going to be 51 degrees with a 10 mph wind and raining at about 0.05" per hour.

Shorts and T-shirt always for me. Only need to suffer a wee bit of cold for the first 5 minutes. And rain? I am Scottish after all lol
