Gagging is different from choking

Does your baby gagging on food freak you out?! 😵 I know it’s hard to watch but gaging is a natural & necessary part of learning how to eat. And gagging on a food does NOT mean your baby can’t handle that food or that texture 🙅🏻‍♀️ Babies who are 6m of age + showing the other signs of readiness to feed CAN recover from a gag on their own…and they don’t need us to intervene on their behalf 👍 In fact, if you lunge at and startle a baby who is gagging, you can actually cause that harmless gag to turn into a harmful choke 🚫
