No worries. Can always ban them for national security concerns.

If geo-politics is one reason not to buy Chinese EVs in the States, then in China, which is already the world's largest automobile market & producer by size, full of choices for both good quality & price products from domestic, joint venture and imported brands, why Chinese consumers bother shopping with American car brands, assuming geo-politics is an issue?

Why is it ok to use China-assembled iPhones all day long, but not ok to drive around China-assembled EV?

BYD is in Australia, New Zealand, So American, Europe, and now Canada. BYD builds busses in California. The fact is the USA must desperately create as many obstacles to Chinese EVs as possible cuz the USA can compete.

Japan should not have done well in the US but they did. One way China can compete is to offer types of cars that are not yet available as an EV in the US or not at an affordable price, roadster, small pickup, and Mini Van come to mind. Also, some customers don’t qualify for IRA credits anyway so they won’t be considering that in the purchase decision.

Until EV manufacturers choose to produce a small, affordable vehicle, widespread adoption will never happen. It looks like the Chinese are going to capture this market which will act as a stepping stone to market dominance of higher end vehicles the same way the Japanese did with subcompact ICE vehicles a few decades ago.

When you cant compete, you can always use national security or BS. But the lost is the American ppl and ultimately the nation.

Well that x CEO is in bed with China. Also having a car that's not going to explode is pretty high on my list, this has been going on for months and months in China, yet he hypes them up as "world class" What about all the lithium strip mining they do without hardly any concerns for the environment. The silica they have released into the air is so small and tiny that it circumnavigated the globe, and even in small amounts that stuff will play hell with your respiratory system. Sure if your car doesn't blow up at least while your driving it, it has a very low carbon footprint, the making of the batteries on the other hand are 6, x that of a combination engine car.

FYI: Chinese Cars are only for "Safe Drivers" so their crash test ratings is very poor
