How might President Trump's policies influence the Chinese EV industry's plans and strategies for entering or expanding within the U.S. market?

The exact same people who are trying to keep out affordable cars are the ones saying Americans don’t want EVs. If there is no demand then why keep them out?

When the US wins the competition, the US never said overcapacity, never allowed other countries to impose tariff on US product. Free market, democracy, competition are the jargons. Once it loses the competition, all are broken. Hypocrisy at its best.

I’m an American working for one of the top chinese EV companies in China. For years Chinese consumers would buy imported cars from other countries with a 30-40% tariff because they didn’t trust nor like homemade vehicles. That was until the government pushed and incentivized manufacturers to improve quality and design of their cars to get the consumers to buy home made. If the US wants to win this war the government has to be serious and apply the same strategies to help manufactures to improve quality and cost. We can’t rely on American companies to do that on their own, they are far too greedy and accustomed to high payouts. All the major US car manufacturers are so used to bullying the consumers by dropping quality year over year and increasing prices to what it used be standard is disgusting. American companies ripping off American people. The moral of the story is that the Chinese EV industry is strong because it has a strong government that supports the industry. I invite anyone to come to China and just test any of the evs here and chat with their sales people. You’d be blown away all the incentives the government gives to help buyers choose a home made vehicle.

More cheap Chinese EV's=Less Use of Oil=Less Need for War=Less Weapons=Less $ in US Politicians pockets, no wonder they are opposed to them!

I am an Indonesian. I used to drive Lexus ES300h. Three months ago, I switched to BYD Seal Performance. Guess what. I never drove my Lexus (it is still in my garage) again since I prefer to drive my BYD Seal. Its entertainment screen is amazing. I can watch videos when waiting for my wife buying groceries in an airconditioned car without worrying of CO intoxication.

I find it so funny that the country that was doing all sorts of propaganda about the Free Market, sending its Chicago School of Economics professors (Milton Friedman) all over the globe to spread that message. Doesn’t hesitate to not follow its ideologies when it isn’t in their favor.

The car manufacturers don't want a car that is low maintenance. They also don't want anything that will force prices to go down.

In Thailand here, you can see Chinese EVs on every corner of the street. American people, sad for you guys paying more but settling for a secondary quality product while giving lots of profits to the Wall Street for a 0.1% of the population.

Lazy, greedy, slow, no vision, no major leap - US automakers. Now they need protectionism from the Govt. so the consumer is stuck with high priced sub standard cars, it is scary how legacy automakers have just given up cuz they know they already lost this fight.

Why do American car companies love selling to China, but hate Chinese cars in the U.S.? Because they like their cars to travel, but when Chinese cars try to come here, it’s like, “Whoa, buddy! No reverse parking allowed!” 😄

I worked in Canada and drove many US made cars. To be frank, they were atrocious. Now the Chinese have arrived with top quality ev's and the US car makers have freaked out and told their stooges in government to essentially ban them. This all speaks for itself really. Fair competition is unfair as far as the US is concerned.

How long can the US government keep shielding their auto industry and continue allowing domestic vehicles to be sold at ridiculously high prices? How long can the US consumers tolerate it knowing or beginning to know that quality alternatives at affordable prices exist outside their borders? Also, how will the US car makers plan to compete outside their own domestic market where consumers are not restricted from buying Chinese cars?
