22% CPU performance increase after 4 years, for double the price is VERY disappointing!

The Nvidia Shield came out ages ago and at this point has outdated hardware, yet it still blows other streaming devices out the water.

To be honest, I won't upgrade my Chromecast with Google TV 4K version. It is pretty fluent and quick for the purpose it is used (originally bought to make my old TV Smart again with full access to VOD, my Plex server, etc. (so not used for gaming) and now on the new TV avoiding configure LG WebOS system). It also supports 4K HDR up to 60FPS with Dolby Vision and Atmos support so really no rush on upgrading here.
Maybe the day Google stop updating it I might jump, also if apps are starting to not work anymore.

Quite underwhelming power. Google really couldn't just put a Tensor chip in it? I suspect it will start lagging within a few months. Heck, Apple puts an A15 chip in their Apple TV that blows the Google streamer out of the water power-wise while also being around the same price

The nest looks like a giant Pixel Watch and I like it....

Would it kill Google to include the HDMI 2.1 cable? For $100, I don’t think it’s unreasonable

Onn 4k Pro is so much better value. Half the price and it seems like the specs are practically identical. Only reason to buy this is if you want a gigabit port or want smart home integration.

I really don't understand why they'd stop making the cheaper Chromecast models. Feels like having a cheap option for folks still would have been good.

What about passthrough audio and dts? Truehd?
Can change frequency in plex; kodi for 24hz? Like nvidia shield?

I would love to see a head to head comparison with the Nvidia Shield TV. I've been using that for years and it's been a great device with solid processing power and the 4k upscaling works phenomenally well.

My household loves to lose remotes so I'm excited for the new remote lol

That is a pretty underwhelming refresh after all these years, i was really hoping for some ai upscaling similar to the shield, and an actually decent hardware improvement especially considering the price increase and much larger size.

I love it's look. It looks very minimalistic.

MediaTek MT8696 SoC and no updates on audio (DTS-HD, DTS:X)..guess l'll wait for the second gen before switching from my CCwGTV 4K.

I just got the Onn 4k Pro a few weeks ago for my bedroom tv, just before I heard about this product in a "leak". After seeing this video, I'm so glad I didn't return that to wait for this. Double the price and really nothing to show for it makes this doa for me.

Will anything be able to compete with the nvidia shield... I wouldnt mind changing it but so far everything else has been not as feature rich or powerful. Can you test the two side by side in the future?

As the owner of a Google Chromecast 4K and a Walmart brand Onn 4k. I can assure you that the only difference in these products is the price.
Onn $19.99
Google $50

Already having a smart TV, looks like the major selling point is google smart home integration. I already have my phone around me at all times so...

I was expecting Google Tensor G3 to power this.

So I get that the Chromecast ultra was significantly cheaper than the Apple TV, but I have both and it is insane how glitchy and poorly optimized in general. The Chromecast ultra was, whereas the Apple TV pretty much always worked flawlessly. Again large price difference, but using the Apple TV made it really freaking hard to have any enjoyment out of the Chromecast because of how often there would be something wrong or need for me to reset it. I wonder if this will be better but has a history of shotgun blasting ideas and quickly abandoning anything that doesn’t work
