Sorry about the audio! There's no place like my home recording studio. Are you picking up a Google TV Streamer?

22% faster after how many years? For that huge price improvement and it really does nothing new? What the hell are they thinking

The real downside is not getting the latest S905X5 chipset, feel like that's a real missed opportunity & only a 22% boost after 4 years is underwhelming, using the same chipset as 2021 Fire Stick Max means it's already outdated. The software features look great though as a Google Home/Nest user the integration looks good.

100 dollars for a device that doesn't have enough power to run 10-bit H.264 or 4:4:4: HEVC is pretty disapointing considering those formats aren't compatible with hardware decoding.

As a Hi-Res music lover (Tidal and Roon), what is the highest resolution of audio you can cast to the Google Streamer? For instance, to my AVR I can cast/stream to 96KHz/24bit lossless audio via Chromecast Audio. However, the previous verison of Chromecast with Google TV only allows a cast/stream up to 48KHz/24bit. Audiophiles want to know!

Was really looking forward to getting this. But only 22% faster for 60% higher price? I expected minimum 50% faster. My Fire Stick 4k goes way faster than this and cost cost me $24.99 on Amazon Prime week. Very disappointed.

$99 and it lagged... Dang it, Google.

My question is it will identify hdr or dolby vision and change itself .
I ask this because chromecast with google tv used to do it but with the android 12 update you have to change from one to another to enjoy that and it's annoying to say the least ...

Hey Brett, how does it compare to the new ONN 4k pro, except for the Gigabit Ethernet port built in, it sounds like it's the same hardware, or very close at least. Also am curious if it comes with Android 14 vs 12.

It supports HDR10+ now. Which is a big upgrade over previous gen, if you have a Samsung TV

Responsiveness looks good from you holding the remote up to the screen, did it feel as good as it looked? I always have issues with scrolling and button presses on the 4k Chromecast. Do something and the screen reacts 0.5/1 seconds later sort of thing. I'd really consider going for this if the lagginess is a thing of the past. I imagine the extra RAM helps a lot as well, keeping your spot in apps properly.

Thanks for this video! How is the Atmos support on this different than the 4K Chromecast with Google TV? Will I be able to hear a difference (my home theater speakers are currently configured for Atmos) on the media that is configured for it?

With the additional ram and CPU I’d hope multi tasking is supported. That’s the feature I miss the most from my Shield.

Question! Are they going to update google smart home? Like the google home nest mini? Feel like its been a while

No USB ports, I was just waiting for this google tv streamer but now feels like 5 years old Nvedia Shield is far better and that is what I should go for.

Only 22% faster than than the outgoing, FOUR year old CCWGTV dongle! I don't care how they try to justice that. The performance of that Chromecast device only got worse over time. Never make a purchase based on the promise of future software updates. They really should have utilized a more powerful chip in this Streamer to totally eliminate UI lag AND provide confidence that the device will hold up for years to come.

This ain't it, chief.

Hi there, you didn't say anything about the processor they are using on this streamer

I've been using Google devices for years, but I've been stuck with the Apple TV because I just haven't found a set top box that runs as smoothly as Apple TV does. I've tried Chromecast and Roku, and I still use my old Nvidia Shield TV Pro, but I'm not thrilled with how laggy the UI is on all those devices. I also didn't love how ad-heavy Google's UI is, but I'd be willing to give up the ad-free experience I'm getting from Apple TV in order to gain Google Home integration and seamless connection to all my Pixel devices as long as navigating the UI doesn't become a laggy mess like Chromecast, Roku, and Nvidia Shield are.
