DoorDash did another change to the dasher app again, and I don’t get it. In DoorDash fashion what appear one way is anything but transparent to the DoorDash driver. Let me know what you think in the comments!

Transparency? There will never be transparency until tips aren't hidden. I hate seeing $8.25+ for a decent order. Drop off and you get an insane tip and you only find out after the fact and then half the time you cant even message the customer anymore because it disappears from your message screen.

I guess this doesn't really bother me. As long as the pay I"m receiving is fair for the work/distance I don't really care if the customer or door dash had to foot the bill.

The biggest change after doing 3300 deliveries and getting platinum is instead of getting 85 seconds I now only get 35 seconds to accept new order dropping my acceptance rate from 98 to 91 which is frustrating

I'm pretty sure Doordash is the damn devil.

just saw this last week, it wasn't there in June. I guess they added it so after each delivery you can see what you got paid without having to go into earnings to see it. To me doesn't make a difference

The only reason I can think of is to try to avoid the situation where a dasher makes a delivery. Then sees no or low tip and confronts the customer. Of course we can just tap the arrow to see it anyway.

First, it still is transparent. If you care about the breakdown, you can hit that down arrow and see it. It’s not being hidden from you.

Second, let’s look at your example. Option 1: The base pay was low and the customer gave you a tip that brought you up to $10.25. That tip made the order worth taking.

Option 2: the tip was low and DD raised the base pay so someone would accept the order. Thanks DD. That made the order worth taking.

Either way, the total pay made the order worth taking and I’m happy with it.

What’s with the angst?

I don't care if tips made up a majority of the total (usually the case for non-garbage orders) or not. The money still spends the same once it's in my bank account.

But I don't like that make Dashers go through extra steps to see that information. What are they trying to hide?

I’m one of the dashers that ultimately just cares about the total payout. I mean, I won’t accept an order that I know has no tip on it, but I get a $10 order and then when I deliver, I find out it’s all base pay, it doesn’t really matter because $10 is $10 regardless of how the pay is structured.

Now I have to check every time, because I always want to know what the tip is.

Yup that started last week they're doing it bc of no tips customers I still think it's a scummy thing to do

This happened to me last week. In addition, over the past two weeks I have begun to receive much fewer orders, the number of orders received has decreased by 2-3 times.

Hi Kim. I've been subscribed to your channel for about 3 weeks . ONLY you, out of all the others on YouTube, make sense with your analysis. You have a keen and sharp "business" mind. I appreciate the way that you look at things in the gig business. It's not a matter of whether this change in the pay breakdown is convenient or not. It's exactly what you said, and what you questioned ... "transparency". It doesn't matter how large or how small the issue is. TRANSPARENCY = TRUST.
NO TRANSPARENCY = NO TRUST.
Keep up the good work, Kim! I hope that you are appreciated for your viewpoint.

Honestly, I don't see how it hurts anything. If you want to see the breakdown. Click the button. Reality is if you didn't care so much about the ratio of your payment for orders. This really wouldn't matter. Remember 25.00 from DD or any service with no tip. Spends the same exact way as an order with a 5.00 base from DD and a 20.00 tip from the customer. --- Just seems like complaining to complain. --- Also, saying something isn't transparent even though all the same information behind a click is rather odd.

The way I know if there is tip or not is on stacks. I know that the last costumer drop off is the non tipper 😂 and sure enough when I check 9 times out of 10 I’m right.

It started in my market yesterday, at first I didn’t notice that you can tap the arrow to see full info, so I was like WTH is this bs update 😅
