Ive read some books about how these young men used to play with each other like brothers during truces it was absolutely beautiful and heartbreaking when they had to fight again after sending each other gifts, playing and eating food with each other .

This is one of the best humanitarian things that has ever ever happened and we should all realise that life is short and everyone is different, we can live in peace. Love eachother no matter what ❤❤

The worst part is: next year, Christmas 1915, the war had seen the introduction of gas attacks and bloody fighting, so this sense of shared camaraderie was gone. The few places truces were attempted, machine gun fire and officers executing enlisted men stopped any chance for another peaceful Christmas during the war.
