======== Christmas Truce LYRICS ==========

Silence
Oh, I remember the silence
On a cold winter day
After many months on the battlefield
And we were used to the violence
Then all the cannons went silent
And the snow fell
Voices sang to me from no man’s land

We are all, we are all, we are all, we are all friends

And today we’re all brothers
Tonight we’re all friends
A moment of peace in a war that never ends
Today we’re all brothers
We drink and unite
Now Christmas has arrived and the snow turns the ground white
Hear carols from the trenches, we sing O holy night
Our guns laid to rest among snowflakes
A Christmas in the trenches, a Christmas on the front far from home

Madness
Oh I remember the sadness
We were hiding our tears
In a foreign land where we faced our fears
We were soldiers
Carried the war on our shoulders
For our nations
Is that why we bury our friends?

We were all, we were all, we were all, we were all friends

A Christmas on the frontline, we walk among our friends, we don’t think about tomorrow, the battle will commence
When we celebrated Christmas, we thought about our friends, those who never made it home, when the battle had commenced

========== HISTORIC FACT ==========

On December 24, 1914, an unofficial Christmas Truce was enforced on the Western Front. An act of trust and harmony, British and German soldiers mingled and played games together in the midst of one of the most atrocious events of the 20th century – World War I.

For four years the world went mad, and on December 25th, 1914, the soldiers went so mad they did the sanest thing they possibly could.

As the times pass, the more epic Sabaton becomes.

Officers and royalty on both sides: "Don't worry lads, this war will be over by Christmas!"
Common Soldiery: *Literally stops the war themselves on Christmas and plays ball together.*
Officers: "NO! That's Not how you're suppose to play the game!!"

Respect to the soldiers that recognized the humanity on the other side, and damn those that forced the soldiers hands to continue the bloodshed.

"We were soldiers, carried the war on our shoulders" is such a good line, hitting you in the guts and very accurate to the actual events.

For years “the last stand” was one of Sabaton’s most epic songs by far, but “christmas truce” is an absolute masterpiece of music. I hope that this song reaches as many people as possible in the world and lets them go through their minds. Merry Christmas

My wife doesn't like metal, but she loves Christmas. I showed her this song and she cried throughout and then shared it to her family and friends. This song is powerful. Thank you Sabaton for this amazing holiday message!

"I am tired and sick of war. Its glory is all moonshine. It is only those who have neither fired a shot nor heard the shrieks and groans of the wounded who cry aloud for blood, for vengeance, for desolation. War is hell."

Frustrated, the Grinch snarled,
“This tree is made of steel,
It can’t be falled.”
Ornaments of Sabaton, Blind Guardian,
And Maiden hung proud.
“This Who knows his metal, ”
He whispered aloud
“Perhaps I had these people all wrong”

Naysayers: "Sabaton sings exclusively about how great war is."
Sabaton: "Here's a song about the beauty of the 1914 Christmas Truce: an event that most people have never heard of, and yet may be the inspiration for an iconic line from Metal Gear Solid."

Somewhere, in a Parallel Universe, I'd like to believe that the Christmas Truce spread, soldiers just started marching Home, removing the Generals and Political Elites who wanted them to keep fighting and they created a Real Peace. Great Job as Usual, Sabaton! LOVED seeing you in Youngstown Ohio a few months ago. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

As a Soldier myself, that is away from home and family on Christmas for the first time in my life. This hits a little different. I'm gonna leave this on loop for a while.
