You want stucco to improve the look of a concrete block retaining wall?
My friends, you have come to the right place.
We will show and explain how to improve the block wall look with stucco.
We explained the material used and why, plus how thick we applied this skim coat of stucco to this block wall. I used what is called “Riverside plastic cement.” I added some extra lime so that when it came time to add the 4 to 6 inches to the radius, it would not set so fast; instead, it gave us the time to continue working so that when ready, I could give the entire wall the sand finish, that owner wanted.
Note: There is no need for galvanized stucco nettings 3.4 metal mesh or any other bonding agent, as we incorporate a natural, mechanical stucco bond.
That is where we apply stucco directly to a porous wall such as bricks, concrete, or blocks that have not been painted; the stucco adheres by suction.
To apply a bonding agent like Larsons, Weld-Crete, or Quickrete's bonding agent is called a chemical bonding agent, and yes, if you are not sure what this means, apply a bonding agent.
We did have to apply up to four to six inches in some areas; this is where the wall went eight feet without turning to form a decent radius.
What happens when one applies any cement plaster over an inch thick?
Multiple coats naturally cause hairline crack when applying more than 7/8.
