Howdy, all in this video, we’re explaining while demonstrating how to improve the look of, CMU, or cinder blocks.
This same stucco method also works for stone or rock walls; even the red clay Terra-Cotta was used about 80 to 100 years ago.
Terra-cotta block walls are still used in many parts of the world today.

FYI, no chemical bonding was necessary, "Weld-create- nor Quickrete," as the natural mechanical bond was more effective. New stucco can be applied over the cementitious Blocks.
Note it's necessary to keep the blocks moist with a water hose to achieve permanent adhesion.

If anyone thinks, man, ole Kirk is working that man to death, that’s bull.
Edgar Velasquez is my nephew. I didn’t realize he would spoil the crap out of me, bring the stucco, and drop it on my hawk.
This shaved an hour off our day and saved my knees and back.

Ratios for sand and stucco mixing by the book.
How much sand is for each coat of stucco?
Scratch coats are mixed at 1 part cement to 2-1/4 to 4 parts sand, brown coats are mixed at 1 part cement to 3 to 5 parts sand, and finish coats are 1 part cement to 1-1/2 to 3 parts sand.

We often mix 3 parts of sand with every part of cement plaster.
The cement plaster we use is any Portland cement, such as Quikrete or Sakrete.
Note, Rapid Set or Greencore are sold at Home Depot but don’t need added sand, just water.

Hey Kirk, the walls are beautiful and all the neighbors love the finished look, especially us! It was great meeting you, Jay and the crew. You're a very generous man, taking the time to video your work and then upload it for others to learn some of your secrets to beautiful stucco and plastering.

Someone in another vid called Kirk the Bob Ross of stucco, now that's all I can see. An amazing artist. A man who has mastered his craft. Someone who is at the cutting edge of his field. Someone I could learn a lot from.

Thank you guys so much. As a dude on a seriously constrained fixed budget, watching you has helped me so much in projects around the house without having to worry about whether or not I could actually afford it.

Man...good tips about keeping yourself moving around. I am hurting my back just watching him, knees and elbows.

This is truly hard work but he made it look so easy!

I started wearing catchers kneepads because I saw you on another video explaining that and you’re right they are comfortable. Thank you.

It's nice to see someone bringing the stucco world to the rest of the world via YouTube. There's not much content available to the public in regard to this trade. As someone who was a plasterer in South West Florida for 30 years, i appreciate what you do. Keep up the good work. 👍

Captain Kirk, a true craftsman applying a craftsman finish. Your nephew worked hard to keep up to your pace. I was surprised you didn't pull out a spare power steering belt from the hammer tacker compartment. You have everything else you need in there lol. Thanks for sharing Kirk and Jason!
