LUNA Basics - Downloading, Installing, & Authorizing LUNA

Learn how to download, install, and authorize LUNA on your Mac computer. Note: your system must be connected to WiFi to login and use LUNA.

To install and authorize LUNA, you’ll need to follow the six main steps below:

1) Download and unzip LUNA and open the LUNA .dmg.
2) Drag LUNA to the Applications folder.
3) Start LUNA from the Applications folder or Launchpad.
4) Log in with your Universal Audio account.
5) Either create and link an iLok account automatically, or link to an existing iLok account.
6) Complete the install.

After install completes, LUNA starts and Shape downloads and installs automatically.

Unfortunately, Luna doesn't work on my Windows 11 PC. I record a midi event and when it reaches bar 30 it stops recording but the cursor keeps moving... and there's no way to stop it. So I have to use Ctrl + Alt + Delete to close the program. It's a shame because I liked the program, I hope an update comes soon...

Three months and still no answer from UA on this problem I'm experiencing. Can you please tell me how to avoid getting the "connect to Apollo" window when the Apollo is clearly connected to my Mac.

Hi Steve thank you so much for the information about this platform. I love it. I have a question, I use logic pro, and I've been using it for about 15 years, but I'm starting using Luna recently and right the moment I noticed that Luna offers more depth on the tracks by allowing to add more volume without distortion. Also you can push the plugins much more on Luna. Am I right?

This is not at all how download currently works...So many issues getting this installed with UA connect crashing.

This DAW is pretty and requires a learning curve period. It's nice if you have UAD hardware and software but, since I run Logic, Pro-Tools, and MPC DAWS, I'm finding. a lot of the external Plug-Ins are not compatible yet. My. Native Instruments, Waves, Splice, Trackton, SofTube, Line 6, etc. Plugins won't seamlessly integrate without conflict. Now, we are talking about thousands of dollars and time invested in hardware, software, and support from vendors. It's a tough transition, especially coming from an analog environment into a digital subscription-based platform. -

I never got to use Luna since I deleted it as soon as I found out it requires iLok to run. Unfortunately removing iLok was a pain in the ass since it modifies your system files in such a way that even an app remover can't delete it. At the end of the day, Luna looks a pig to use anyway.

Would someone please explain to me why I have to download Luna every time I use it? Otherwise I just get a "Connect to Apollo" message despite being connected to Apollo! Is this normal?

I literally can't find any difference between Luna Pro Bundle, and API Luna extension which is like 150 more than pro bundle. Can anyone explain that by any chance

@UniversalAudio can we or can get video of a person recording and mixing a track with the bear minimum. Theres a lot off who just have the basic factory bundle with a Manley Vox Box or 610B stock EQs precision channel strip etc etc. I need something for the average Joe. the doesn't have the extra $699 🤦🏾‍♂️ to buy 3-4 plug-ins
