I learned today in school that there is no standardized EQ parameters that will work on everything 100% of the time. Removing 160 Hz could potentially create low end separation, however it could also remove warmth and thin a sound out. So the correct answer should be to listen first before doing this.

He could have made a video 7 mins long just for Ad revenue, but he didn’t

Yep! I notice that a lot of Rage Against The Machine tracks have a fairly big dip in this area. And the kick and bass work great for that reason

Dude, your eq presets are already awesome. For mixing and mastering. Best buck I’ve spend

Ok, I’ve been working on a project FOREVER, and I thought I finally had it all finished yesterday. Then I saw this video, and tried it out. 🤯 Now I have to go back and do this on every track! It never ends!

Interesting. I discovered this basic idea by accident. 160Hz or thereabouts, 1dB or thereabouts. It helps, I think, to contribute to an "open" feeling.

every other youtuber needs 23 minutes for this. you are my hero :-)

Ahhh !! Separating the low end is gonna allow you to really define it. This is actually a game changing tip for some. Getting the low end right is a hurdle for learners

I get how this can help beginners who know nothing about eq but Oy… that’s so much db to take off a whole mix and for some songs or styles that’s like one of the main frequencies. Personally one of my fav for darker mixes. And imo if you’re cutting out that much u should really boost by at least half that right next to it or you’re jsut dulling the mix

Makes sense, cause this is where low mid separates from low end

Streaky, I think you should recalibrate your control room. Imagine you get mixes which your tip has been already applied - then lower there again? Really ALL mixes.... ???

Are we talking on the master or on bass channels? I find this helps on the kick for sure but keen to try it on the master eq then
