How to restore/recover your The Binding Of Isaac Repentance save file

I made this video so people can follow the steps in the guide better.

Hey guys, if the steps in the video dont work for you then try out what user DayneDragon wrote in my Guide.

"This doesn't work most of the time. The game reads saves from:
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\userdata\<some numbers>\250900\remote

The files are called rep_persistentgamedata1, rep_persistentgamedata2, etc.

So to "restore"a save you would have to replace the files in your remote folder with the backups found in your documents folder (don't forget to rename). You also have to disable steam cloud in the game properties or the saves will just get overridden again."

Also just saw somebody post in my guide that turning off steamcloud on steam and then in the options.txt of tboi helped as well with my way

"first disable steamcloud,
go to option.txt,
steamcloud = 0"

Fuck sake dude this saved me, i cant believe 2 years in and there's still problems where your save file disappears out of nowhere.

My son is having issues with Repentence over-writing his game save with brand new rep_persistantgamedata files EVERY TIME.. we have tried everything.. turned off cloud saves, deleted everything but the original backup (after renaming, removing the rep_ and date info).. taking the newly generated game peristantdata files, and removed the data and rep_info, to see if it sticks, nothing works. Help please!

iif this didn`t work, in the options.ini file always set SteamCloud=0 and then do the steps of the video

Heyo everyone, this video and my guide on steam have been getting the past few days. To my suprise I found out that Tboi is having a beta for multiplayer which sounds cool because me and a friend of mine were really into the game two years ago and would have loved to play this. Better late than never tho!

But to get back to the point. Sorry to hear and see you guys lose your saves. But please keep in mind that I'm not tech support.
I found one way how to get your saves back and from the looks of it for some it works and for others it doesn't. There are always people in the comments either on Youtube or on the Steam guide that found other ways on how to get your saves back. If the video method doesnt work then look at the pin. Many people said that those worked for them.

I can't really do more than that because I havent played Tboi since the release of this video and I didn't try out any other way because the steps in the video worked for me.

Thank god! I was going to stream Isaac today but my save mysteriously vanished. 500 hours gone! But thanks to this I was able to get it back.
