Contrast vs Brightness

Contrast and brightness are two variable settings that can be set at each phase of video recording, production, and playback. Most televisions and monitors allow the user to easily change how these aspects of the image are presented. While they often go hand-in-hand, they are very different.

I try whatever at default until I notice that I cant see specific details then I adjust accordingly. (like the folds and ripples on a black piece of cloth in a video)
for most part defaults are somewhat acceptable for me but then I am only use to displays that are only around 100$ to acquire.

brightness is zero = black screen. nothing watchable.
contrast is zero = watchable thing but black & white.

I vote for contrast :P

Not only does it matter on the room and the atmosphere, but it also depends on the person. Everyone perceives colours slightly differently!!
