Mobile gaming type monetization with different currency just to make it less clear how much u actually pay. Arbitrary giving out fixed amounts of free currency wich ultimately is just there to tease, so ppl are willing to spend money easier. And u can earn everything ingame. Except it just takes eternitys to farm up for it and developers introduce game mechanics that are just grindy in nature to sell u a solution from the cash shop. Absolutely aggressive P2W mechanic that give me bdo ptsd. Obviously this is opinion based.

After playing Warframe for 5 years, this feels right up my alley. I have put over 3k hours into the game and only really spent money on cosmetics and when there are discounts on platinum, which I also make plenty in game trading with others. I just play the game at my own pace and never cared who was more powerful or ahead of me. Before that, I played World of Warcraft for around 10 years and jumped on Warframe soon after. Lost Ark feels sort of a like mixture of the two (Diablo as well) to me, I guess, so I'm interested in checking it out. Hopefully I won't miss out on anything if I decide not to buy any of the founder packs.

The MMO world is so weird, on one hand WoW is widely seen as P2W because you can buy gold and therefore boosts but I see so many people defending lost ark even though you can straight up enhance gear via the cash shop? For the record I think both games are p2w. Its crazy how peoples standards for games has dropped, years of increasingly shitty promotions, preorder rewards, greedy battle passes, low drop chance loot box cosmetics and AAA games with DLCs at launch has made gamers so accepting of dumb shit like this.

IN CONCLUSION: You can LITERALLY use real life money to upgrade your gear item level. If that isn't pay to win, then nothing is...
Not to mention you can speed up everything you do with real life money, the problem above is much worse.

Can you Buy royal Crystals in the Cash shop for money --> exchange those for Blue crystals to further exchange the blue crystals for gold??? And with that gold basically buy the best shit from the auction house? Pay players to boost you dungeons, Pay players to boost in arena etc?

To summarize this video: The short answer is YES. RGV didnt feel the need to buy anything. (But that's irrelevant to the question whether this is P2W or not.) If you spend money in the game you will be stronger than someone who does not spend money in the game.

Currency exchange in the cash shop allows you to spend gold for blue crystals which means you don’t have to spend $$$ for them if you don’t want to.

It's ridiculous that people think that paying to anything outside of play or cosmetics isn't pay 2 win.

Anything that involves money to get a person ahead of the others in any way, shape or form is pay 2 win.

great video, really in depth. my only remaining question is, ok so its faster to get max level and gear by paying... but by how much? if its only a week or two as rage said, i consider that not P2W and totally fine. but there was some rumors floating around about a video with asmongold where a veteran korean player said it would take like, 2 years to get max level from character creation totally F2P? and i can totally see a situation in which this vet was assuming there was no blue crystal grinding and ergo no late game crystalline aura helping, so maybe some mat caps contributed to the numbers there, despite it actually being bloated.
so which is the case here?
