The Karen Read 20/20 interview. The Trooper Proctor Problem: will it get worse? The Emily Show Ep309

Karen Read has a new interview on ABC's 20/20 show. I go over my thoughts on the episode and how this could affect her 2025 Retrial. I go over the motion filed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts simply titled, "Notice Regarding State Trooper." We all know the Trooper he's talking about... Michael Proctor. His personal phone was extracted for the 2024 Karen Read trial. Now, the Defense wants his work phone extracted for the 2025 Retrial. Prosecutor Adam Lally has concerns about this request and I have my own worries about who and how relevant information will be determined.

I totally think Trooper Proctor's work phone is absolutely discoverable! The Norfolk County District Attorney's office should NOT be involved with this review. They are way too close to all of the ongoing investigation(s).

The reason John's mom thought she had something to do with it was because Jen McCabe did a whole PR campaign that day calling everyone she knew and spreading suspicion. And yes, Karen felt uncomfortable and left. I would have left too if people looked at me like that.

Classic case of "We have investigated ourselves fully and found no wrong doing."

This is absolutely an insane abuse of power. Thay DA needs to drop some of these cases proctor was involved in.... but we know they won't because all they care about is putting people in jail

It says a lot that it took a federal investigation to open up a lot of evidence to the defense. Corruption seems to be firmly entrenched in the MA State Police and it makes me wonder how many people have been falsely charged/imprisoned. They seem to have the ability to create air-tight cases with very biased evidence.

I forgot who said it on the stand, I believe it was the person who drove Karen back to find John, but she said as soon as they got to the hospital, Johns mom started yelling at Karen. Saying something like "you just dropped him off and left him there?!" So Karen was probably already feeling targeted before she even when back to the house

If Proctors phone doesn't have location data that puts him in places, he swore he wasn't under oath... I'd want it released... what are they hiding???

There are two sides to this: there is the woman being wrongfully prosecuted by the state in the face of completely incongruent evidence, whose corrupt officers assisted in covering up and deflecting the suspicious death of John O'Keefe, and then there is the bereaved family who supports the unjust and corrupt efforts of the state.

I can COMPLETELY understand feelings of animosity towards the surviving O'Keefes.

During the trial we heard that one of the first things John's mother said to hear was "You left him ALONE?", clearly blaming Karen for his death. I highly doubt she would have been any less accusing when Karen went to the house, especially if she saw the crack from hitting John's car. 🤷🏻 She was smart to immediately get a lawyer. I really don't think she had a particularly good relationship with his family even before John's death. It really doesn't take much for people that don't like you to decide you did something wrong, while covering for the people with more clear evidence of involvement.

I hope this eventually reaches the right result, but I sadly do not believe John's killer(s) will ever be brought to justice. His family will forever believe the Norfolk spin, in spite of the evidence to the contrary, and think she did it.

All I keep thinking is that John deserved better from EVERYONE in this case. From cops, to prosecutors, to family & yes even to Karen & her lawyers. I get why they're running the defense the way they are but it truly is so sad to see how little JOHN has been remembered in this case.

I know someone who works at Fidelity Investments. They said as soon as she was hit with charges, she was fired. She was a really high up employee. It's pretty wild. I feel for her.

It was very, very hard to respect his mother that flipped Karen the Finger in open court. That definitely negated a bit of respect that she would normally deserve.

Sounds like they need to bring in a special prosecutor from anywhere but there.

I still don't know how someone "misses" 32k messages and think it wouldn't come out... But that's probably all part of the corruption/club going on..

I think many people who are invested in this trial are angry at the O'K family because of their refusal to accept, or even entertain, that something outside of Karen Read hitting him with her car is possible. Most logical people can see she is innocent and the fact that they refuse to open their minds, especially after all the evidence to the contrary, is breading contempt for them. Just my opinion as a Mass. resident.

And I thought most of the 20/20 program did more harm than good. If people that know nothing about the case were watching, this is not going to educate them with so much missing information 😕

At least one person in that house slipped on the stand and said John entered the house.
