Fiery Exchange between Karen Read Defense, Witness Erupts in Murder Trial

Digital forensics analyst Nicholas Guarino was back on the stand Thursday morning breaking down evidence in the boyfriend cop murder trial. Under cross examination, Karen Read’s defense attorney and Guarino exchanged several fiery comments while discussing cell phone data. At one point, the judge had to ask both the attorney and witness to pause and not to speak over each other.

Karen Read faces several charges including second-degree murder, manslaughter while operating under the influence of alcohol, and leaving the scene of personal injury and death. She was arrested in February of 2022, a few days after John O’Keefe died. If convicted, Read faces life in prison.

This trial is outrageous. The prosecutor said in his opening statement that Karen hit John at 12:45 and we learn today that she got back to John's house at 12:36! The jury has to be furious at this waste of their time.

I like how the defense got him to say he's not sure if the Canton PD was the scene of a crime. That leaves open the door that Proctor committed obstruction of justice by removing taillight pieces to take back to the crime scene, which also would violate Karen Read's civil liberties. The cop is right - maybe it really was the scene of a crime!
