How to handle a DUTCH TOILET?

Toilets in the Netherlands may have a kind of a platform... It's called a 'vlakspoel' toilet.

It's typical Dutch although you may find it in a few other countries. For many foreigners, this is something new, and not everybody likes it!

Do you actually know why this is?

In this video expats in the Netherlands tell their opinion and they guess why Dutch people have toilets like this.

Oh also...for the Dutchies here:
Als je (een keertje wilt uitproberen om) wat aan het milieu te denken, haal dan eens een fles of pot (de flessen van Innocent-juice halve liter passen heel goed) en vul die met een stel steentjes en water.
Zet die rechts in je spoelbak (sommigen gebruiken een baksteen, maar mijn spoelbak is van plastic en ik vertrouw dat niet helemaal) zodat hij wat ruimte inneemt.
Doe de spoelbak-plaat weer terug, ga lekker verder met je dag en kijk eens of nu nog steeds goed kunt doorspoelen.
Zo ja; Top! Dan heb je nu een heleboel water bespaard. Zo nee; Jammer, dan haal je hem er gewoon weer uit.

I've been on holiday in the US and with my first USA toilet visit I was this toilet is clogged I'll better go the next one....eeuh also . Apparently it turned out all toilets are filled (almost) to the edge with water and that's how they think it's normal !! When I had to sit thing that makes me a man was hanging in the water....now that was seriously disgusting !! And it's also a huge waste to fill all toilets in the US with so much water.

"How does a healthy poo look like?" And that ladies and gentlemen is why we have shelves, if you know your poo you see when it goes wrong, it's an early indicator and very reliable. You don't have to study it closely but just at a glance you can see what you need to do the next 24h, just like your urine, all bodily fluids and excrement tells you more about your body, how it functions and what is not working for it. Healthy poo looks like a medium brown (buttercream consistency) sausage (without a case) and barely smells. If it smells you often have problems with slow digestion. Hard? Dehydration. Bits of undigested foods, food doesn't process well either chew better or leave out (girl who said leave out waste of money, passed the Dutch 101 course), blood outside & fresh, hemorrhoids, through it internal issues (see doc), greenish gallbladder issues, etc etc...

It's good with the 'vlakspoel' because you see (and smell) the result of your own digestion. If it's healthy or inbalanced. Must be good yes?!
