Whenever I clean my cast iron skillet, I will pour a cup of water in the pan and heat it up on the stove. When it comes to a boil I take it off the heat and scrub it with a spatula to loosen the bits. Dump it out in the sink, and scrub it with the brillo pad. Don't use dish soap. Rinse thoroughly and dry with paper towels.

I was and Eagle scout in Boy Scouts and got cooking merit badge, doing many campfire meals, but none of that can hold a candle to this instructive lesson. Thanks Ken for the dutch oven tips.

Everyone appreciates a good cook. I was going to be late leaving work so I called and told my wife that I would be late getting home. She told me if I wasn’t home in an hour that she was going to feed the supper she had cooked me to our dog. I was home in 30 minutes. I would hate myself if something bad happened to our dog.😁

Kent, the next time you have a Throw Down, with Bobby Flay. You need to challenge him to a Camp Dutch Oven - Cook Off! He would probably be out of his element, for sure!

Thank you very much for the most informative information about Dutch oven cooking. My mom gave me hers and said “it’s only for baking beans!” Lol. You have lifted my heart ♥️ and opened doors for me. 🇨🇦

With all due respect sir, I'm from the Netherlands aka Holland but didn't recognized a single you showed in your video what you call Dutch! Not a single thing! Moreover: I think I have more American stuff in my country than you ate stamppot boerenkool with sausage! Or Dutch pea soup!

One of my favorite weeks was with my best friend at your Dutch Oven Cooking Camp. Have my graduation degree up on the man cave wall.

CK (Cowboy Kent), thank you for sharing all of your great recipes over the years. I've decided that the secret to a great recipe is doing a little jig after tasting each great creation that you share with literally the entire world. It’s very entertaining and I’m sure it makes the food taste so much better. I also love the appreciation your pup’s show of your cooking and the tasty morsels they get to sample throughout your many videos. That could very well be secret ingredient number two. I’ve decided to invite my wife to share all of my smoking and grilling successes with a jig. As I was thinking about that it dawned on me that I’ve never seen Shannon taste or do a jig after you’ve made after one of your great recipes. I don’t want to make her job harder but I think your viewers would like to see her take the first bite and improve the taste with a little two step. Just a suggestion. 😉 Looking forward to that.

I have to disagree with you about charcoal briquettes. Somebody who wants to start out cooking on a Dutch oven, this is the best way to learn. If you have a 12 inch Dutch oven, you put two more coals on top, then the size in other words a 12 inch you put 14 coals you put two coals less on the bottom then the diameter if it’s a 12 inch Dutch oven you put 10 coals that gives you 350° right on the button. It’s good for people to get experience using briquettes so they can move on to charcoal. 26 years cooking with Dutch ovens in the Boy Scouts has taught me this.

I had given mine away. Made the mistake of not buying one with the flat lid. Couldn’t stack coals 🐸🍺🔪🔥

I love my cast iron, I have a dutch oven dedicated for the smoker usually to smoke beans or Mac and cheese.
I also use it on my Santa Maria grill, so easy to control the heat and I've got enough room to keep a fire going to make coals.
I've made several of your recipes Kent and I have to say, they were all fantastic.
