When you look at these two men and believe Peterson is the smart one, you have no business in serious discourse.

It'll take JP about 40 hours to answer...
And yes, that's the brief summation.😅

Stephen Fry said just about the least of it. None but a wicked god could be responsible for the arrangements we see in the world now.

Stephen is the most low key genius I have heard. He is a funny man and a very deep and considered thinker going.

I love how patiently - as if he were talking to a child - Fry explains that it was talking hypothetically in response to a specific question and he doesn’t believe such a god exists.

Why would you ever agree to worship a perfect entity that needed & wished to be worshipped?!

I'm never sure to what extent Peterson is a cynical hack or genuinely unhinged. Bit of both, no doubt.

Peterson is so tedious. Every time he says, "Gwod" it makes my flesh crawl!

That's the problem with arguing with theists. Even tho I think the idea of a g$d is ridiculous, the argument usually sounds like I believe and I'm upset with its existence. I always try to say "your g$d" or "the g$d you worship" just to clarify my stance. That's prolly why theists think that atheists are only mad at g$d. I'm no more mad at g$d than I am at Darth Vader.

The god of the bible has a lot more explaining to do for his actions than I do. I will do the judging on that day, thank you very much.

Stephen Fry says it perfectly. There is no verifiable evidence that god exists.

But even if he did, and we would then have to acknowledge he is real, there is still a debate about whether he is worthy of anyone following him.

Theists:
1. God created himself 2. God always existed before time and space and is outside of time and space.
Sceptic:
1. !?
2. Existence is necessarily temporal and spatial.
Theist:
2. No one can know god.
Sceptic: But you claim you do. Not only that, you claim that you know what he wants from humans.
Theist: You just love to sin. End of argument!

If this life is all there is, then the Atheist has a good point.

35, 000 innocent children die every day around the world from starvation, lack of clean water, preventable diseases, and violence. What loving God would allow this?

Either he can help these children but won't and is therefore evil, , or he can't help them and is therefore not god

They are both smart men. It is an example to all on the internet that it is possible to disagree fundamentally and still be civil.

Stephen Fry is so intelligent and articulate.
