I always hated pumpkin pie growing up. When I was in my twenties I went to an evening church service with a few friends and they brought us treats after the service was over. The husband was a baker in town and he proudly brought us each a piece of pumpkin pie with whipped cream. My heart sank and I steeled myself because there was no way I was not going to eat it. I took one bite just knowing how it was going to taste and I was overcome with amazement. It was soft and silky and filled with luscious fall taste and aroma. The crust was flaky and buttery and the whole experience made me want to cry. I can taste that pie now. Ron and Marge, if you can hear me in Heaven, that pie was divine and you guys were amazing people. Love, Laurie. ❤️💫🍂🍁🍂💫❤️

My mom’s special pumpkin pie trick: put a good amount of black pepper in the custard. It enhances the flavor BY A LOT. Also for most recipes, you should double the spices, and reduce GRANULATED sugar, but keep the same amount of brown sugar. Hope this helps!
