Funny thing is they eventually knew how poisonous sheels green was...they just didn't care. It was commonly used as a dye for fabric and women used it quite often for dresses. They also believe the wallpaper contributed to nepolians death, as he was sequestered to his room on a house in a humid climate, which may have made the arsenic leach out faster

The green wallpaper has been used more than once as the murder method in historical mysteries. I've also read one mystery where the murder wasn't a murder at all. The sleuth noticed the green wallpaper in the victim's bedroom.

The victorians weren't silly they just didn't have the scientific knowledge that we have today

And the crazy part about it is people have known lead was poisonous since the time of the Romans. But most American homes had lead paint clear up to the late 1970s.

Think about all the things people think are okay now, but years from now they’ll be like why were they so dumb...

Victorian dresses were extremely flammable as well! There are some really interesting (sad) stories about women’s dresses combusting at parties

Yea.. if you look into what they are selling to us today, times are not any better. I don't even know what to eat or drink anymore, just trying to keep it as natural as possible. Though even the frase "biological" or "organic" doesn't mean a thing anymore. I found so much crap hidden in those foods and drinks, just called by a different name.. You have to actually study what you eat now too. Sadly. (Not saying all is bad, but I am shocked more often, finding additives that are not needed, but are bad for health, than not.)
Much love! :)

Napoleon Bonaparte was said to have died from Arsenic poisoning from the wallpaper in his room on the island of St. Helena.
