You really do need your tonsils!

1:13 I explain two remedies that support your lymph system

In this video, I explain what tonsils do and why you really need them even though you might have been told you don’t.

People get told that they don’t need their tonsils; that they’re an extra organ and they can do just fine without them. I’ve noticed that those who say this are in the business of removing tonsils!

You don’t have any extra organs that you don’t need. You need them all. The organ wouldn’t be there if there wasn’t a purpose for it.

Tonsils are there to keep microbes from getting into your lungs and creating a respiratory infection. Removing your tonsils increases your risk of getting one. Your T-cells get activated, antibodies are created as part of a standard immune response.

(You also have lymphatic tissue in your armpits, to keep microbes from entering into your extremities.)

When I talk about tonsils, it’s not just one. There are four different sets of lymph tissue located in the back of your throat.

The two remedies that support your lymph system to do its job better are zinc and vitamin D.

What I’ve also observed with people who have chronic tonsil infections or swollen tonsils is that they’re almost always on a diet high in sugar or dairy. So I recommend you drastically reduce or eliminate sugar and dairy from your diet.

You may also find fasting helpful. In fact, you may find that your appetite goes away, which is a sign that your body is trying to get you to fast. Fasting is important to help strengthen your immune system.

Your tonsils are important!

My Dad got strept throat when he was 22, he didn’t have his tonsils to stop the infection from traveling deeper into his body-he ended up with nephritis and lost both kidneys which set him (and all of his family) on a roller coaster journey of life and death until we lost him at 50. Every part of your body works together with every other part-we are perfectly made-keep all your ‘parts’.

This is very timely, Dr. Berg. I had a surgery for peritonsillar abscess last year. Unfortunately, tonsilitis kept coming back almost every month after that surgery and have to take antibiotics every time. The doctor told me that my only option was tonsillectomy. I almost agreed but mom didn’t like the idea as her mother went through it. She told me her mom always had colds and coughs after that. Come January this year, I went into low carb diet (bec I was struggling with weight too) and to my surprise, I NEVER HAD TONSILITIS since then. Not even colds or cough. I’m 8 months into LCHF and no single sickness so far. It was life changing because last year was extremely challenging bec I was a slave to antibiotics. I’m just grateful I came across LCHF and it really worked for my health. I also lost 24 pounds since January and I am at my healthiest so far!!!

Chronic tonsilitis when I was a kid, and all I can say is, I lived on bread and cheese as a small kid. This began a long course of antibiotics for me, one course after another, and I can pinpoint my weight problems to those years when I had to take course after course of antibiotics! I am 43 years old now, and still battling weight issues. But now I know better, and am healing gut health, no dairy, sugar or refined flours, and using fasting to my advantage.

My daughters tonsils were so large and troublesome. She had monthly infections that’s caused sky high fevers. We got them removed after the dr said it would help significantly with that. And it did. For us it was the right decision. It’s been 10 years and she stopped getting sick monthly immediately.

Dr. Berg! In many of your videos you are saying the importance of Zinc and Vitamin D. What will happen if we take these nutrients too much? Please say about toxicity/max.limit of Zinc and Vit. D

I laughed when you said the people who say you don't need them are the ones who want to take them out....that is so true. The good Lord put them there for a reason. We are wonderfully and awesomely made.

My dude, please make a longer video about this... maybe a more encapsulating one touching on the importance of what some deem 'unimportant' organs. I had my tonsils removed as a kid (about 7 years old). When I was about 14 I read about the functions of organs (likely inspired by biology class), and was pretty bleak, to say the least, that I don't have tonsils, lol. I've learned to medicate bronchial infections, which I often suffered from in my younger years. My tonsils might not have suffered as much if we fought the root cause, which, after watching this was likely sugary cereals and milk. I think (hope) that such a video could serve as a positive public service to enlighten people on the importance of THE BODY as a whole, keeping it healthy and taking care of it in illness. danke

I had my tonsils out as a young child and became a big time snorer, overweight, and CPAP user for 25 years. Scar tissue leads to soft tissue? I don't know....sigh, but Keto and IF have turned my life around!!!

Dr Berg, I had my tonsils removed when I was much younger and didn't know any better. I would love a video on how to manage a healthy lifestyle without tonsils. It's too late for me to take your sage advice and any help would be greatly appreciated!

I dont agree with taking them out but taking mine out was the best thing that ever happened to my health . I spent years severly ill from mine - Im sure if I had had a dr like dr berg i couldve kept them but I was 17 with an old school dr . Now Im 50 and excellent health since I had mine removed at 17 . Seriously I grew 2 inches and black circles under my eyes gone. Was never sick much after that . Im sure good doctoring wouldve saved me but Im glad i had em out . I dont regret it .

Thanks for making this. You’re right on when you say the docs that say you don’t need them are in that business. Sore throats suck for sure but there is a reason that happens. Also, like you mentioned, you can increase certain foods and limit others to help with something like chromic sore throats.

Interesting! Wow, I got my tonsils removed when I was 7. Had repeated Scarlett fever 11x up till then and my doctor had said back then that those streptococcus had kept staying in my tonsils and made me sick all over again everytime. I'd say the removal was ok because I never got Scarlett fever again for decades. So, not so bad in my case.
