Had my tonsils removed when I was 10 when I got strep throat one time and didn't miss them or notice a difference.
Been pretty healthy most of my life and I'm 73.

When I was 20, I had Strep throat 10 times in one year and ended up getting my tonsils removed. They were larger than a golf ball and cryptic. They also were harboring strep bacteria at all times so yeah glad they're gone! The last 5 years have been the healthiest of my life.

I nearly had my tonsils out, but then my mum tried taking me off dairy and I stopped getting tonsillitis. Some people who have dairy intolerance will get tonsillitis a lot more often than those who can digest it.

why is it that my hands and legs feel like they are being punctured by needles after waking up when they were asleep?

Fantastic answer! Very objective and perfectly correct! You manage to answer based on solid science without going mad on some ideology! Thank you! I am having my tonsils removed tomorrow, they are keeping me from sleeping well. Good job! I will check out this channel more often!

I had mine removed in my early 20s because they were obstructing my breathing. They removed my uvula and adenoids at the same time. When I woke up after surgery I distinctly remember how clearly I could now breath, but I was then overcome with incredible pain from the operation. Removing my uvula stopped me from snoring ever again, which my college roommate appreciated.

I never had surgery or broke a bone, pretty unusual I think.

I had my tonsils removed when I was 5 years old. I had been suffering from tonsilitis very badly, having my tonsils swell every other week to the point where i could barely eat. Thankfully the doctors removed them, albeit reluctantly, and obviously I've never had a problem since. All this said, i never actually knew untill now what they were and what they did. I just knew it was painful when i had tonsilitis.

Mine were taken out along with my adenoids when I was four years old. I still remember that. They used to get infected quite often and so the decision was made to pull them out.

I got my tonsils out when I was 7 years old, because I had tonsillitis almost all year round and was missing too much school. Yup. But it's good now, I'm not sick every second week anymore

I had my son's removed when he was just a little older than 1 (he's 12 now). He was always sick and the antibiotics did nothing. So the doctor took out his adenoid. He got better for a little bit and then got sick again. Then when he finally took out his tonsils the doctor said they were all infected. Since then he never got sick like that, but now he has really bad allergies (and I don't know if that is correlated, but still its an immune thing).

Tonsils and adenoids removed, whilst grommets inserted into ears, at the age of 6 since all that they were doing was keeping me perpetually sick. From ages 8-12 I had 8 sinus operations because the infections continued (this included washouts, drilling extra holes in my bones to help drainage of sinuses and even the removal of bone to make the passages bigger and avoid everything getting ridiculously congested). At 13 I found out I have an immune deficiency (IgA deficiency) which affects the mucous membranes (i.e. upper respiratory system and digestive tract) so it's little wonder I have had these problems since my immune system is defective in these areas! I had another 2 sinus operations by age 17, but I still get randomly sick for extended periods with cold/flu conditions that last for 14-15 weeks each bout. I am now permanently on prophylactic antibiotics because of my condition and that seems to prevent me from falling really sick (I'm never 100%, but I'm not down at 20% or less which is how I end up when I get properly sick).
