i’m a vintage watch lover, mainly divers.. but somehow the watch that gets most wrist time recently is my white dial vintage Citizen Chronomaster. It reminds me of my father’s Rolex Oyster Perpetual which I have given to my nephew as his wedding present.

I’m not surprised with the WoS share price taking a hit: I’ve been “on the list” for a black dial OP36 for over 2 years, plus 5 months when they originally said they would put me on the list but didn’t and I’ve bought Cartier & Tudor watches from them.

John thanks for the Interesting & informative video. No surprise that WOS is doing badly, their attitude and sales practices are anti-business. Always loved both sports and dress watches depending on where you’re going and what you’re doing. I love all watches from Casio to Journe and everything in between. Would love to see Patek come down, paying 2x for a Nautilus is ridiculous.

John, welcome back, and glad you are over whatever your girlfriend gave you. Interesting commentary on the watch market. In the Rolex Washington DC area, the dealers are still playing the Pandemic Games. I have been waiting for three years for a green dial OP 41mm. The day when I walk into a Rolex AD and feel they want my business then I will change my mind on Rolex. I was in Miami and visited 4 ADs and got the supply and demand story. I don't visit Rolex ADs anymore. I rather buy from DelRay first.

Great analysis. I can agree with everything you’ve said. It’s a buyers market now and into 2024. Maybe by end of year it will turn around. I find the watch market usually follows crypto (Bitcoin high) then watches tend to track up with that asset class. Hope you feel better.. cheers

Traditional/dress watches making a comeback? Maybe?
I love that style myself and despite a concerted effort not to buy them I still have a few.
The problem is: If I was still working in an office this style would really resonate with me. But, I'm not! The first time I went for a bike ride with a Cartier Tank or was putting up drywall with a Reverso on I'd be questioning my sanity.
Sport watches are the bulk of sales for a reason. That's what people can live with day to day.
The grass is greener on the other side until you get over there and figure out why you weren't there in the first place!
On my most recent foray into watches I made myself a promise to stay away from Dress watches, Vintage watches, and Chronographs! I've picked up one or two of each, but I've largely been successful. 😊🎉

Watches are only going to get cheaper as the economy implodes. Interest rates are only going to go up, and when you're stretched to pay the mortgage, luxury items get hammered.

You can add GMTs to the list of Rolexes one probably won’t get the call for (unless they’re a longtime customer or have a friend at the AD). BTC is about to explode - and more election yr money printing. So I just bit the bullet and bought a mint Batman.

Might be a slight uptick in dress watches but sports will always be #1.
