How to change / remove a watch strap without tools!

Saw this nifty "life-hack" (or at least "strap-hack") a while back. It's so elegant and useful I decided to share it with all you guys! Back in the day when I was starting this hobby, I tried to figure out ways to do this. None of the popular channels I followed at the time showed this method and I think it's so good that it should be spread as much as possible! So here you go, good luck!

This is such a great video. I just wanted to switch out bands & had no extra pins. If I didn't cut myself, break a nail or scratch my watch I'd end up losing the pins! This is simple & easy & saved me from having to buy a package of pins just to use 2. I used waxed dental floss & the pin stuck to it until I needed to attach it to the band. No more lost pins! Thanks so much!

Wow, that was a demonstration I put to use half-way through the video. I had a band that was so tight, I couldn't get a tool in between the leather. That's what made me look for some youtube advice. I had a spring bar tool and had damaged my Seiko straps with it and still had issues getting it off. This helped me get it off quickly and without any further damage to watch and strap. fully recommend 👍

Explaining to my son, that many times after crudely getting a knife onto the pin, just as I was releasing it, it would shoot off and ping around the room like a Wyle.E.Coyote cartoon and then the long arduous time trying retrace where I thought I saw it disappear, with sometimes a win and quite a few times a loss.
Today you showed me something so simple and brilliant that I had to commend you on this very clever idea, that I stumbled across.
While looking to buy a watch tool repair kit, I got one watch all fixed without a wait in the mail for a tool kit.

Wonderful idea! While dental floss failed, I used 10lb fishing monofilament line, which is much more durable. The spring bar popped out with a slight pull. Tip: Use garden gloves to protect your hands and for steadiness. A white dish towel under your work area helps.

Very nice! I once brought a watch to a watch repair dude to have a strap removed - ended up having a damaged case and a damaged strap. This video shows how to avoid it. -E.K.
