The difficult part for me isn't failing, the hard part is when I feel embarrassed and humiliated around my friends and family members when they find out my failures.

From the title, I thought you were going to say you bombed your midterm lol

0:52 “and the exam still bends you over and shows you the 50 states” I literally spat out my beer

Oh boy what a good way to start no nut november

I feel like this is a very much needed video for physics majors. You most probably will mess up at least a couple exams if you are one.

Cant have a bad exam if you don't show up

Holy cow finally someone who can understand that no its not fine.... I mean the amount of "you are aiming too high" or "lol why would you redo the exam if you passed it" is way too god damn high around my peers, luckly dropping but still. I strive to become a master at something and I cannot be that if I don't master this something, I don't really care about grades, but if I get a 6/10 it means I know jack shit and it means my studying was more about being distracted than actually working, as well as other things. I will never believe that slmething is too hard to master, never ever and neither should anyone.

Andrew, I watch this each time after a bad exam immediately whenever feelings of self pity start creeping in so thank you very much for being in my corner which gives me confidence. If I had to be very honest, you are partially the reason that I was able to be confident in pursuing physics as my field of study and career given how similar backgrounds we have. I will always be rooting for you and keep doing what you're doing.

Also, if not for ego, keep striving to do better on your next exam to get good grades and get into grad school. I'm a first year physics grad student and although the material is more dense it truly is just about learning now. Some classes have no exams and the ones that do are take home.. for an entire week, and the tests are super chill.

I can totally relate! I'm a junior in high school and I know it's probably much different from college exams but I have experienced this! My first math test of the year I completely failed I was so sad and after I just motivated myself, watching videos, talking to teachers, etc and I got an A on my next one, I have seen myself improve drastically all by doing such simple things! I totally agree! Don't beat yourself down, there will be bumps along the way, it's life!

My first test in physical chemistry 1 was a punch in the face. It was the first time using the schrodinger equation and was 24 questions and nobody in the class finished. The test average ended up being a 35% and I made a 42. After that I had to change up my studying and test strategies and ended up with a B but that test was a wake up call and in hindsight it wasn’t that hard it just was because it was new and pretty different than what I had done before.

I had a math exam today. It wasn't hard but for some reason I did the stuff I know wrong 😭😭 First exam of the semester too 😭😭

I’m glad I watched this, as a high school senior going into the theory side of physics as well. I never really have s problem with the difficulty of my math and physics classes, that’s to say I don’t think it’s unfair, unless what we need to know isn’t explicitly stated

This video couldn't have come at a better time, after midterms

On a more serious note, everyones gonna fuck up in academics sometime, its better to do it now and learn from it, rather than bombing something completely later on and not learning from it.

What a nice serendipitous discovery! Just had a horrible 2nd QM midterm and need to bounce back despite naturally feeling defeated. It's reminding me of the Big Bang episode when Sheldon feeling discouraged finds an old VHS pep talk :)

One problem, some professors just tell you to look at your notes from class. I think giving yourself enough time to study and doing different type of problems based from the hws should be enough preparation unless you don't understand something at the fundamental level

I am a physics student. I am not really into physics that much or wasn't before. But for some circumstances I am majoring in physics. It's so so hard for me. It's already hard but I am not that good in physics but still I worked so hard. But the exam question was very very hard. There was less time. I know it's not my fault. But this grade means a lot to me. That's why I worked so hard. But I don't know what to do anymore.

My midterm ended yesterday. It went well.
Going to professors and discussing physics helps me too. That's a nice point.

As long as you have the right mentality of "I'm going to do my best" you should be good regardless of whatever grade you get. The real problem is when your professor thinks that you deserve a low grade in the course. That's what I have a problem with.
