There is a free shuttle and pd taxi to downtown Hilo, stopping at waterfront park and a market. There is the tsunami museum too.

It was a number of years ago - 10 now - but I kayaked to a waterfall in Hilo. It was strenuous but cool. I did it on an excursion with Princess. Unsure if they still offer it.

Mark, you have 5 days to play craps. Has it been packed at the table. Kenny and I had 8 to each side on our cruise. We had to get to the table at 7:30 every night to get a spot. It was crowded and crazy.

Mark there are several cool beaches where we saw turtles about a 30 minute walk from there, just turn left on the road the intersects with the guard shack road. We used Uber to get back to the ship. Easy peezy

Mark I don’t know why princess ships stop on the Hilo side of Big Island. They should work out a deal with the Kona side where there is a lot to do and it is the nicest side of the Island. The weather is always better on Kona side as well. Hilo to me is exactly what you said nothing really to do. I spent over a month on the island and there is only a few attractions on the Hilo side.
