Russia to withdraw troops from key Ukrainian city of Kherson - BBC News

Russia's military has been ordered to pull out of the Ukrainian city of Kherson, the only regional capital it has captured since the invasion began in February.

Russia's commander in Ukraine, General Sergei Surovikin, said it was no longer possible to keep supplying the city.

The withdrawal means Russian forces will pull out entirely from the western bank of the River Dnipro. It is a significant blow as Russia faces a Ukrainian counter-offensive.

The announcement came shortly after Russian media said the Russian-installed deputy governor of Kherson, Kirill Stremousov, had been 'killed in a car crash'.

The Russian troops are moving in the right direction. Now they need to keep going in that direction until the border is behind them and they’re back in their own country. It’s not as though Russia doesn’t have existential problems of its own, thanks to Putin’s self-serving leadership.

I find it abit scary that Russia also claimed that the civilian population had been evacuated yesterday, and now the military retreat. So what ever happens now, Russia can claim no civilians was involved.

I don't this is a retreat, Rusia has, in the past, used false retreats as their basis for tactics to great success. I'm not on the side of Russia, I'm just saying that something seems very off about it.
