Russia says it will withdraw troops from Kherson but how will they do that, and what does it mean for the war heading into winter?

"Day 259 of Putin's 10 Day special military operation to try and capture Ukraine" is the best opening so far

It's not a withdrawal, it's a special military capitulation.

Special De-annexing Operation. I guess the liberation of Kherson can't come soon enough for the citizens that live there! I remember the video of those people at the start of the war protesting against the Russians in the central square.

What the Ukrainians have accomplished against all possible odds so far is just unbelievable and already legendary!
This war of brutal, disgusting, plain evil yet absolutely ineffective and unsuccessful russian aggression will be remembered, studied and looked up to for centuries to come.
Ukraine - the land of the people of unbreakable spirit, the land of living legends! Absolute, total respect and support for the Ukrainians! 💌

Not according to Hindustan Times, the voice of India, where for 259 days Putin's imminent glorious victory has been reported.

Another thing, I notice Putin is keeping himself at a very long arms length from these announcements in the hope that any domestic fallout lands on Shiogu and Surovikin.

Here's my take on it. Question! Why didn't Putin make the statement about this withdrawal? Why leave it to a top general? Have those at the top in the Kremlin and military finally had enough of Putin? Russia is losing this insane war that he declared. Is this the possible end of the tyrant Putin's rule?

This could be a signal of changes at the top? Shoigu and Putin have always been soul mates. But recently Shoigu has been blamed for Russian failures in their war in Ukraine. Shoigu has been widely seen as 'on the way out'. But maybe this is a signal that Shoigu is making a grab for power and that Putin is on the way out? After all, this was a huge stage managed announcement from the Kremlin top showing Shoigu surrounded by his approving generals. But Putin was glaringly absent. If Shoigu succeeds, then that could lead to a negotiated settlement with Ukraine.

However remote it may sound, the withdrawal could also be Putin's incremental strategic fallback, calculated creation of opportunities and scenarios for a tactical nuc use (strike targets and buffers) which despite all the previous veiled threats, recent retractions and denials rhetoric, the possibility of which should not be discounted.. Hopefully, beyond Putin's apparent flair for dual tactics and miscalculations, even for Russia's sake, some trace of sanity prevails in his regime and the nuc option is truly completely off the table.🙏 God speed Ukraine and the free world!

The city of kherson will be useless since all the civilians are gone and its ports are blocked
