Elbow pain 🤕

As requested, here are a few exercises that COULD improve elbow pain. But, first, let’s clarify a few important things.

These are strength exercises, meaning if you have severe pain, they probably going to hurt and YOU SHOULD NOT DO THEM :) let me say this again: if these exercises cause pain, DON’T DO THEM.

💭 So then, why do you share them?

1. After you have rested the area and the pain is minimal, these are great exercises to start building some strength and make the area more resilient. Choose the ones that feel good and progressively build capacity in them via more reps or weight.

2. Isometric exercises (# 3 & # 4) are probably the best entry point after you’ve had some forearm/elbow pain. They are way less intense on the tendons and they work wonders for recovery. Start with those.

🧠 Closing thoughts…

➤ if you have “golfers elbow” (pain on the inside) you might benefit more from exercise # 1. If you have “tennis elbow” (pain on the outside) you might benefit more from exercise # 2. Not always tho.

➤ If you have pain there, it’s very likely you did something too hard, too fast, too soon. Be more progressive with your training so it doesn’t happen again.

➤ Don’t just look at the elbow. Ie: Shoulder instability or lack of mobility can really lead to elbow pain. Look for the root cause. We are all connected.

➤ Pain is multifactorial. From how much you sit, to how stressed you are, to how you sleep, to how you are eating, etc… once again: don’t just look at the area of pain.

Hope this is useful for some of you!

This is my favorite forearm exercise too

Looks good, with the exception of letting the bar roll down to the fingers, which is what causes medial epicondylitis. The hand grip is key with the bar, or wood in this case.

Don’t forget shoulder stabilization like scapular or pull-ups and external rotations

I do a lot of these & I still get some left elbow pain after I’m done doing push-ups.
I curl 20lbs with my wrist, do wrist rotation & extensions. Maybe I’m not doing enough extensions therefore I’m imbalanced. I broke my radius in 4 different places & had surgery so rotation is a bit painful on left wrist.
