This video was shot while I was assisting a nieghbor that I was mentoring. This was literally his FIRST time working with bees. We hung a swarm box in a tree in his backyard and THIS was the result. I have learned from experience that new beekeepers are so distracted by the bees and everything "unnatural" about standing amongst a cloud of angry bees, that many details of the inspection are missed. So, this is how I teach the new beekeepers that I mentor how to "read the comb": by taking detailed video and allowing them to watch it in a calmer environment. This was classic!
