My lolo survived the Death March because he knew how to cook and a Japanese officer made him his house cook. He learned Nihonggo too. Once he was freed, he went home to Panay Island and led the guerillas against the Japanese and retired as Captain when the war ended. He then continued law school and finished his degree.

155, King of battle!!! My step fathers dad was not part of death march but was in hiding in the mountains with a few other American soldiers and Philippine soldiers or brave citizens without military training and he told my step father all the time how brave and hard as nails they were they are the only reason he and fellow American soldiers survived and how even back then the Philippine people were soft spoken and were deadly quick and brave when fighting the Japanese, I never met him but yep dad said he only talked about it when really old and only time he ever cried when remembering how vicious the Japanese were to Philippine people but they never betrayed the Americans hiding places and no americans would of lived if not for the tougness and bravery of the philapino people, I really appreciate this episode and can't wait till I'm there, Thanks

Thanks, been watching you forever. A little help toward a new luggage can't have you getting stuck. You are one of the reason I went to Philippines this February. And you are right it is a beautiful country.

Bataan is not only historically relevant but also a beautiful province — from its white sand beaches to lush mountains — I love this province!

The thing I like about this guy is that he's genuinely interested in the country and not obsessed with cringeworthy relationships with Filipinas.😊

The plane at the entrance is a P-26 "Peashooter". It was one of the earliest aircraft acquired by the then Philippine Army Air Corps (PAAC), now the Philippine Air Force (PAF)

Bataan is so nice and underrated. I'm specifically impressed by how clean and organized the public market.

I got to say, you are just one of the very few foreign vloggers that prioritize reaching out to local tourism before anything. The other foreign vlogger that I can think of is Kulas who also has connections with the local tourism. Keep it up!

Love your channel. My Mother's Father fought in Bataan and my American Grandfather took back Luzon. I still have relatives there. Matter of time. I will come to the Philippines soon.

I have to say, because of you this is another destination in the Philippines that I will visit! Thank you! Your depiction of the less featured cities is so helpful. I am planning to retire in the Philippines in about 8 years. I am not sold on any place I particular, so your vids are giving me a lot to think about! Great job brother!
